You Are Forgiven by God

Classic Christianity Radio – (03-19-19) – Part 2

Bob George shares how mankind becomes a forgiven person and receives new life. Forgiveness does not give new life. New life brings life from the dead. Man’s most basic problem is that he is dead and in need of new life, God’s life. We are saved not through his death but through His life. His death is a part of salvation, to take away sin from the sight of God. For without sin being taken away, the cause of death, Jesus could not bring new life to man. Death is worse than sin. God cured death by dealing with the sin issue when He sent His son Jesus to die on the cross. Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin. Now that sin is taken away, never to be remembered again in the sight of God, what can Jesus now offer to mankind? New life in Him! By His resurrection from the dead, He offers the same life that was in Him to be placed in us, who have put our trust in Him. You Have Been Reconciled to God

Classic Christianity Radio – (03-18-19) – Part 1

Bob George explains what salvation really is, coming by faith to God through Christ Jesus to receive His resurrected life. Sadly, salvation is often incorrectly taught as coming to Christ to get your sins forgiven. Through the scriptures, Bob explains what Jesus came to do, did, and what that accomplished for you and me. He explains how every man is born spiritually dead already. Jesus Christ died to take away the sins of the world, for all people forever. That does not mean everyone is saved because only in the resurrected life of Christ is someone a forgiven person with Christ’s righteousness. The only sin that keeps someone from God is the the sin of unbelief in Jesus. A person who comes to Jesus Christ for life has repented of the sin of unbelief in Him. Sadly, many churches teach you that you must repent of all your sins. But that is impossible for man to do. The only thing man can do is repent of the unbelief in Jesus. A person must change their mind about what they think they can do to make themselves holy, righteous and acceptable to God. Don from Eugene, OR

Don shared about his experience with his unbelieving wife. He became a believer while married but his wife wanted nothing to do with Christ and rejected the message. That led to friction and eventual divorce. Don tries to reach out to his ex-wife on numerous occasions. She was quite mean-spirited from what he shared. He said her ex-wife called threatening to do things to their son. He hung up because he does not want to be threatened. She left me because he turned his life to Christ. He also said he started praying again for her.

I believe Don called so as to receive affirmation that he was doing the right thing. He now thinks he should just leave her alone since she obstinately refuses to listen. He cited this scripture.

Mark 6:11
And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, leave that place and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.”

Jesus Forgave You - All Sins Taken Away

Several callers asked very personal and sensitive questions in regards to marital decisions and sexual temptations of the flesh. First, there is no sin except that which is common to man. God also does not lead anyone into temptation but rather does not let you be tempted beyond what you are able to endure and with the temptation, he provides a way out. So it is unusual that people sin, for man is weakened by the sinful flesh.

1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

There is always a way out. One significant way out is the renewing of your mind with truth (John 8:32). People are bound in sin, or living unproductive lives, because they are thinking in error. How do you think about the opposite sex? Is your thinking in line with how God thinks of them? Only What is of Faith in Jesus

Bob George shares from scripture on being made anew in the Spirit of God by spiritual new birth.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

We are now a child of God when by faith we trusted in what God accomplished for us in Jesus Christ, by his death, burial and resurrection. My heritage as a Jew or a Gentile is not important anymore. I am proud to be a child of God. My citizenship is in heaven. As a child of God, we are created for good works, that he produces in us and through us as we trust in him. Bob also shared from the parable Jesus told his disciples in John 15 concerning the vine and the branches.

Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Your Sins Are Forgiven

Classic Christianity Radio (03-12-19) – Created Anew Part 2

Bob George shares from Ephesians about being created anew, that both the Jew and the Gentile, as one body in Christ Jesus, are saved the same way.

Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

Bob explains mercy and grace and how God provided both mercy and grace to us in Christ Jesus. God showed mercy when he withheld death from us, who deserved and earned death because of sin. God extended grace to us when he offered eternal life as a gift, something we never deserved and could never earn. Bob then explained the difference between belief and faith. Belief is necessary for faith but is not automatic in the faith. True faith is putting trust in Jesus Christ, in what he accomplished for you in his death, burial and resurrection.
