In this world there will always be false teaching. There will be pastors of churches who do not know the Lord. There will be people who do know the Lord, but would rather rely on their intellect, their Greek, their Hebrew, their seminary, to teach the word of God. Many times people will teach whatever theology that they grew up with or came to know the Lord under. And since they are told they must go to seminary in order to preach, and so they go to seminary and there they are taught all sorts of tradition or teaching that may or may not be true. Sadly, so few people will test to see if what they heard is so, by checking the scriptures out for themselves. The whole issue of false teaching is false dependency, leaning on your own understanding rather than relying on the Holy Spirit living in you, to reveal the meaning of the word of God to you. There are all kinds of people in this world, who go throw painful circumstances in life, sometimes they caused it themselves, as they were formerly lost and got trapped in sinful or even perverse behavior. But other times, you are the recipient of someone else’s sinful behavior such as a adultery, and so you have the right to file a divorce in such circumstances. Some women caught up in a situation like that incorrectly think they have to wait on the husband to file the divorce. That is simply not true. Listen as Bob George counsels this woman, who is notably upset, crying, and he asks her the probing questions to help her in making practical and wise decisions.

You will also run into people, who are blind and lost to spiritual things, and so they will throw out smokescreens, asking if you can prove to me where Cain’s wife came from or if Jonah was really in a whale? All of us need encouragement in this fallen world we live in. As Jesus warned us so many times, let no man deceive you. All of us have been deceived one time or another and are all subject to deception. Many of us grew up in some denomination or cult even, and some of us came to the knowledge of the truth. We came to realize God’s word is truth, and anything contrary to that is to be rejected as from men. Not all men are deliberately deceiving you. Many are simply passing on what they heard from others.

How grateful we are for those many people, the born again believers all over the world, who have understood God’s grace, the totality of the cross, of being made complete in Christ and salvation through receiving new life through the resurrection of Christ Jesus, who has offered all men the Holy Spirit to be placed in those who believe.

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P9 (06-14-21)

Synopsis

As you read the book of Hebrews, you will come to understand the New Covenant we are under today, with so many precious promises for us. The writer of Hebrews contrasts this covenant with the Old Covenant that it replaced. The Old Covenant was conditional in nature, and was to the people of Israel, that if they could keep all the requirements of the law, the law of Moses, with all its ten commandments and regulations, God would be their God and they would be His people. But man could not keep that, and neither could you and I today, who think we can do better in obeying the ten commandments of Moses, and come up with our own religious system that we might approach God.

So to understand the need of the New Covenant, you have to understand the problem of all mankind. You have to understand what caused our death, and that there is only one solution to death and that is life, but not a temporal life, but eternal life. Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P5 (06-02-21)

Synopsis

When you read the Old Testament, you get a better understanding and visual picture of why we need a New Covenant. In my growing up, the ten commandments were taught as something to live by and memorize. I am not sure what people still think about the ten commandments today, because in my state, the ten commandments were ordered to be taken down from the capitol grounds, and I would hear from church-going people that Roy Moore needs to stand down and obey the law of the land. But the point is, the ten commandments is something closely tied to the conscience that God has created in mankind as something that is holy, righteous and good. In Muslim countries, I have heard that if you steal gold out of a store, because they do not have such items locked up in a case, then you can get your hand chopped off. That is overly harsh punishment to me, but the point is they would not have such a law if they thought stealing was not wrong.

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P3 (05-31-21)

Synopsis

The book of Hebrews, particularly chapters 7-10, explains this New Covenant, as the scriptures testify in 2 Corinthians 3:6, that we are made ministers of. The New Testament is the testament, covenant, or will that God replaced the Old Covenant with because the old one could make no one perfect, because it was weak and useless. The problem was not with the law, being holy, right and good, but with us, because we could not keep it. Under an Old Covenant, the man who sins shall surely die. Under the New Covenant, the man who believes shall surely live. The belief is in a person who can fulfill the law for us and did, and that person is Jesus Christ.

Jesus did something for us we could never do. He fulfilled the just requirements of the law for us, paid the punishment of death for sin for us in full, and then was raised to new life, to give us His resurrected life to be received as a gift.
