A Person Forgiven Much by God Loves Much

Bob George is so glad to hear from people that call to thank him for truth that has changed their lives. Jeff called and is now serving as a pastor, known also as pastor Jay, is now excited sharing the same grace and love of God that changed his life. Ted called to thank Bob for resources that he could share with the soldiers deployed overseas. The materials, particularly Classic Christianity and Victory of Depression, were very much liked by the troops there. Vernon called to express his gratitude for the truth that he now understands, that he is already forgiven and no longer needs to ask God for forgiveness of sins every morning. That understanding of truth changed his life.

What is particularly special and brings great joy is when the truth of the gospel is shared to someone so that he becomes a child of God. James called to ask a question about what makes a man think he is a homosexual. Many times people ask such questions because they are bothered about sin in their own life and want to be set free. Victory Over Depression Teaching

So many callers simply called to thank Bob for the teaching he has done for so many years. Many have read books he had written, such as “Victory over Depression”, while others remember hearing Bob teach at a conference about the finality of the cross or the New Covenant. Their lives were personally changed as they simply replaced error with truth. Two books that these listeners mentioned were “Classic Christianity” and “Victory over Depression”.

Bob summarized the purpose of life by saying we are to live one day at a time, sharing the love of the Father with people. God loves people unconditionally and wants to set them free. If truth is what sets people free, then error is what binds them. The only purpose for us being here is to be available to God to let Him live in us and through us. It is not about living a bunch of principles or under law or getting a bunch of people together doing the same thing, at the same time with the same enthusiasm. Victory Over Depression - Book

Bob George receives calls from several listeners. Ted called to thank Bob for the bible study material sent while he was deployed in Iraq. Sandra called for advice for her struggle with bitterness. Bob encouraged her to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. John called for clarification on the meaning of the Lord’s prayer in Matthew 6 in regards to forgiveness from God when you do not forgive a brother who offended you. Bob explained that Jesus was teaching in accordance with the Old Covenant that the Jews were still currently under. Christ taught under the Old Covenant and buried us under that covenant while speaking about the New Covenant to come. Today, under the New Covenant, we are now instructed to forgive one another as Christ Jesus forgave you. When Jesus died on the cross, he took away the entire sins of the world, never to be remembered any more. So if God forgave all our sins, then that is the motivation for forgiving someone who sinned against you. Mike asked about those who have given themselves over to Satan in order to be rock stars. Jesus Life Saves

Tony asked a question about false prophets, those men who say they heard from God. Nobody today is getting direct words from God. Those who prophecy today are proclaiming truth from the scriptures that have now been closed. The canon has been closed. Anyone proclaiming words of the Mormons or Jehovah Witnesses or the other cults is not a prophet.

Stacey asked about why Jesus was tempted when he is God and He is never tempted. Bob cleared up her misunderstanding. Someone can be presented the temptation to sin, but if you are perfect like God then that really is not a temptation to you. Sin was offered to Jesus by Satan is what is being said here but Jesus is not ever tempted by sin that he should sin. If I were offered a cigarette or drugs, I would walk away or turn it down because I never desired or was given to that kind of temptation.

Jesus Asks of Us Lean Not on Your Own Understanding

Tony asked for understanding of a conversation he had with people who believed that the apostle Paul was the only person with the mystery of the gospel. Bob instructed him to stay away from such erroneous teaching and rely on the Spirit to teach you and trust Him to complete the work he started in you. Think about Ephesians 3:5 and 2 Timothy 3:16 for example. Bob then answered his question about priesthood and ambassadors. Those in Christ Jesus are ambassadors for Christ, since our citizenship is in heaven, representatives of God on earth and our priestly function, with the Spirit living in us, is to represent Christ to the lost and the lost to Christ. Aaron got into a conversation with Bob, agreeing that scare tactics is not an effective way of evangelizing. Bob addressed that the heart of the gospel is the resurrection. Bob personally addresses the person’s need of new life first, and if the person then does not accept or agree, then it would be fine to address the matter of their being on their way to hell in unbelief, but he would not start there. The Work God Requires

John asked what works is, wanting clarification on James 2:14. Bob explained that you need to base your theology on the totality of the New Covenant, that salvation is not based on our works but on the finished work of Jesus Christ alone, we are not in the fruit inspection business, and our role is to simply abide on the vine. Bob also shared about the basic problem of religion. Andy called for Bob’s thinking on an evangelism technique that uses scare tactics, showing a dramatization of what hell would look like. Bob would not use such a tactic for it is a wrong motivation to come to Christ and presents salvation as a fire insurance policy where a person really does not come to Christ for life. Janice called for clarification on Hebrews 12:7-11, and particularly wanted to know what discipline means. Bob said that discipline is not punishment, but training and discipleship, where instruction in truth is received that sets you free.
