Jesus is The First Born of God

Synopsis

When you hear again the story of the birth of Jesus Christ, the events that happened prior and the events that followed his birth, what goes on in your mind? What do you ponder? Imagine having seen an angel or heard the voice of an angel speak to you, if you are a young girl, that you will bear a child without having relations with any man, and you are to name your child Jesus, Immanuel, which means “God with us”, and who says “He will cause the rise and fall of many in Israel”, and “a sword will pierce your own soul too”? Would you not ponder all those things in your heart as to what they would all mean?

Should we not also ponder what that all means, to you personally? How is God going to be with us? Is God inside this baby? When this baby grows up and works in the carpenter shop with his earthly step-father, could he really be God? And then, later in life, this now grown man, over 33 years old, is hung on a cross? We Have The Mind of Christ Jesus

Classic Christianity – Christmas P1 (12-21-20)

Synopsis

In this world, we can begin to see terrible events unfold. We can certainly see clearly this conflict between good and evil. The degree of that will depend, to some extent, what exposure you have to sources of information concerning current world events, for there is also so much fake news and misinformation.

Nevertheless, we tend to see these horrible things happening as something unusual, yet the Lord tells us that evildoers will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. We tend to forget what the Lord has told us, and can let ourselves be overcome with fear. But God tells us to keep our focus on Him, to continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of. Of all people, we, as children of God, should hold out hope. We should testify of the hope we have within us. We should be full of joy and peace, as we allow God, who is living in us, to bear that fruit in our lives.

Synopsis

What will get your attention as to what is really important in life? Is it the death of a mother or father, dashed hopes and dreams? You reach the point where nothing in life is important any more. What you thought was so important is really not that important. Your heart is crying out, “God save me. I am so empty inside. Lord, will you heal my mother or my father?”

There is good news for you? All those thing you heard, but you did not hear and you did not understand, that every time a Christmas carol was sung, that song “Immanuel, God is with us”. You either heard or sang such songs every year, but had no clue as to what those words really meant. Then, in the depth of your brokenness, the message of good news is explained to you, and you are ready now to hear.

Synopsis

Are you exhausted because you are trying to get something you either do not have, spiritual life, by means of the flesh, or thinking you do not have what God says you already have? Are you not resting in what Christ did? What did he do? Have you not heard? Or, have you heard, but have you rejected the knowledge of truth?

So if you have not heard, this is the truth. Man was born dead spiritually, without the life of God in him. But, you say, that is no fault of mine. That is what Adam did. Are you so exhausted in trying to perform to be accepted and loved? Do you have an emptiness in your heart? Even with your success in this world, you are now asking what the purpose of life is? Synopsis

Hebrews give a panoramic view of God’s dealing with mankind and the final solution in Jesus Christ. When you think of the Old Testament, what thought come to your mind? Have you looked at it close enough to realize how patient and long-suffering God was with mankind? Do you think of God as an angry God ready to pounce on you when you sin? Then you have not properly understood the heart of God and the purpose for which he came.

As you read about the continual failures of mankind, do you think God was surprised at that? Man was already born dead, without the Spirit of God in him. God, knowing all that, had a plan to restore mankind back to a relationship with Himself. See man is hopeless and dead in his trespasses and sins. Synopsis

You are wondering about the meaning of life? You notice a nativity set on the front lawn of a neighbor’s house. You cannot help but hear about a person named Jesus. So you decide you want to find out more about who this Jesus is. Another person is steeped in religion. He goes to what people call church. He too is wondering about the meaning of life. He has heard a few things about Jesus. He knows about the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, but a message of what that accomplished for him personally has never been told, and certainly never understood. He is burdened down by all the things he is trying to get sins forgiven and decides he is tired of all this. He is looking for answers also. Why am I here? Where will I go when I die?
