Bob George shares how mankind becomes a forgiven person and receives new life. Forgiveness does not give new life. New life brings life from the dead. Man’s most basic problem is that he is dead and in need of new life, God’s life. We are saved not through his death but through His life. His death is a part of salvation, to take away sin from the sight of God. For without sin being taken away, the cause of death, Jesus could not bring new life to man. Death is worse than sin. God cured death by dealing with the sin issue when He sent His son Jesus to die on the cross. Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin. Now that sin is taken away, never to be remembered again in the sight of God, what can Jesus now offer to mankind? New life in Him! By His resurrection from the dead, He offers the same life that was in Him to be placed in us, who have put our trust in Him. Bob George explains what salvation really is, coming by faith to God through Christ Jesus to receive His resurrected life. Sadly, salvation is often incorrectly taught as coming to Christ to get your sins forgiven. Through the scriptures, Bob explains what Jesus came to do, did, and what that accomplished for you and me. He explains how every man is born spiritually dead already. Jesus Christ died to take away the sins of the world, for all people forever. That does not mean everyone is saved because only in the resurrected life of Christ is someone a forgiven person with Christ’s righteousness. The only sin that keeps someone from God is the the sin of unbelief in Jesus. A person who comes to Jesus Christ for life has repented of the sin of unbelief in Him. Sadly, many churches teach you that you must repent of all your sins. But that is impossible for man to do. The only thing man can do is repent of the unbelief in Jesus. A person must change their mind about what they think they can do to make themselves holy, righteous and acceptable to God. Bob George shares from scripture on being made anew in the Spirit of God by spiritual new birth.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

We are now a child of God when by faith we trusted in what God accomplished for us in Jesus Christ, by his death, burial and resurrection. My heritage as a Jew or a Gentile is not important anymore. I am proud to be a child of God. My citizenship is in heaven. As a child of God, we are created for good works, that he produces in us and through us as we trust in him. Bob also shared from the parable Jesus told his disciples in John 15 concerning the vine and the branches.

Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Bob George shares from Ephesians about being created anew, that both the Jew and the Gentile, as one body in Christ Jesus, are saved the same way.

Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

Bob explains mercy and grace and how God provided both mercy and grace to us in Christ Jesus. God showed mercy when he withheld death from us, who deserved and earned death because of sin. God extended grace to us when he offered eternal life as a gift, something we never deserved and could never earn. Bob then explained the difference between belief and faith. Belief is necessary for faith but is not automatic in the faith. True faith is putting trust in Jesus Christ, in what he accomplished for you in his death, burial and resurrection.

Ephesians 1:15

Bob introduces the topic of being created anew, when someone is born again spiritually. When someone is born again, the Holy Spirit takes residence in you and all things become new. Bob shares from Ephesians 1 and 2 and explains this faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the same faith available to both the Jews and the Gentiles, by which all men are made acceptable to God.

Ephesians 1:15
15 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people

To better explain this concept of both the Jew and Gentile being saved the same way, Bob provides background information on the lifestyle and thinking of the Gentile world in the time period of Paul’s visitation to Ephesus. The Gentile world today is not like what it was like thousands of years ago. Today’s Gentile world is in general still a moral and decent people and quite a contrast to the goddess worship and temple prostitution practiced by those Gentiles in days gone by. Today that moral decency is fading away. Bob George explains how we have the need for meaning and purpose in our life. We look to find fulfillment in life through things in this world that we think satisfy, but then find ourselves dependent or controlled by such things, and find that we are never completely satisfied. We ultimately found ourselves dependent on people or things for needs that can only be met through Jesus Christ.

Bob George explains our need of unconditional love and acceptance. We want others to love us. If you looked at 1 Corinthians 13, and demanded your spouse to fulfill all those characteristics listed there, what kind of unrealistic expectations are you putting on your spouse? Yet, we try to control others to ensure our needs are met and are woefully disappointed. We have unmet expectations, and in so doing we attempt to control other people to ensure our needs are met. You cannot get other people to produce these characteristics. We try to get that need of unconditional love and acceptance met by others but that is a spiritual need that can only be met by Jesus Christ.
