Salvation is Life, Not Getting Your Sins Forgiven

Today’s topic of conversation was Heaven with the first caller, Penny, called from New Orleans. Bob expands upon the subject of Heaven.

The second caller was John, and he wanted a better explanation as to what salvation really is and wanted to understand, or to better understand eternal assurance, eternal salvation. Bob explains that salvation is life, it is not getting your sins forgiven. Once the living Christ comes into a believer, scripture says He will never leave you. The reason is, because all your sins were forgiven on the cross. We can not lose eternal life. If it was not eternal, then the scriptures would be a lie saying that a person has eternal life. Synopsis

Often times people have called into the Classic Christianity radio program with questions to help them know how to apply teaching or to get clarification on teaching they have heard that seems to conflict with what the Lord is beginning to teach them. Others simply call to thank Bob for the teaching of truth that has helped them to walk free of legalistic teaching, and want to encourage Bob to continue teaching truth.

More often than not, Bob will explain more thoroughly about the New Covenant we are under. Often times people will read something out of the gospels, such as Matthew, Mark, Luke or John, or the book of Acts, and struggle understanding what it means. The starting point to understand truth is to first of all be born again, having the Spirit of God living in you. Then as you read God’s word, you allow the Holy Spirit to reveal truth to you.

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 32 (06-11-19)

The disciples, whom Jesus spent 3 years with, came to accept the truth Jesus was sharing concerning eternal life, except Judas Iscariot who later betrayed him. These disciples had an encounter with the living God. It was a hard teaching because it was so contrary to what they are so accustomed to hearing, since, like all of us, live in the natural realm and are born spiritually dead. But Peter, a disciple of Jesus, caught the message. Bob George also had an encounter with God and was born again in 1969. This is not an encounter where you physically see Jesus but where you hear spiritual truth. Truth is revealed to you by the Spirit of God. The Spirit has spoken deep into your heart that you are spiritually dead and in need of life and you accepted the only available life, the resurrected life of Christ.
