Synopsis

In this flesh of ours, we will have our struggles, this conflict between the Spirit who lives in us and our sin-indwelling flesh. We indeed are weak people. But that is what God wants us to realize about ourselves so that we may boast in Him, rely on Him. We are designed to trust Him, and that comes out of responding to Him. God is the initiator and we are the responder. That is so important for us to realize and understand. He truly is our life.

We love because He first loved us. God is love. God is Agape love. But sometimes, instead of operating in the Spirit, entering into that relationship we have with God, who is living in us, we rely on our feelings. We tend to drift to worldly wisdom, which is no wisdom at all. We think how much more fun it was when we were lost. What kind of thinking is that? That enslaved you, and made you so miserable that you came to Christ for life. Those thoughts are the enemy of our soul. Synopsis

As believers, we struggle at times with all kinds of life issues. A common issue is marriage, and especially so when one or the other spouse is not a believer. AS a born again believer, we have the Spirit of God living in us, and so we have access to God’s wisdom through his word, to renew our mind so our behavior is in accordance with who we are. But a non-believer does not have that resource, and therein lies the conflict. That is why the word of God instructs believers not to be unequally yoked, for what does light have to do with darkness.

Many times people call in to ask questions about sin and forgiveness. What do you do when you sin as a believer? Why do I still sin if I am saved? Those are some of the common questions people ask. These are symptoms of not fully understanding what Jesus provided for you at the cross. When Jesus died, he took away the cause of our death, which is sin, in order that life might be given. It is so vitally important to grow in discernment, in grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Otherwise, you are so easily led astray by every wind and doctrine. Things can look good on the surface, sort of like the tree in the garden of Eden, that looks pleasing to the eye, having an appearance of wisdom, but leads to destruction. Such is the case that goes on even more so in the world today, as Jesus told us, to let no man deceive you. You have every religion that seems to be merging into one, with mysticism, tongues of fire, song lyrics without truth to them, catering to the emotions and to the flesh.

A person calls in and says they see nothing wrong with being involved in a Catholic service. How do you know they teach error? Read the word of God, and allow the Spirit to teach you truth. If you are born again, then the Lord will teach you. Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P45 (07-29-20)

Synopsis

The natural man does not know God, and God is love, so he operates in what is called fleshly love. We do the only thing we know, and that is to please our flesh. So we use phrases like, “I love pizza” or “I love the beach.”. What does that really say about our understanding of love? It is saying that love is anything that makes me feel good.

Then when we become born again, we come to know God, who is love, where you have come to the end of yourself and to the beginning of Him, where you came to Him for what He came to give, life, not just for forgiveness, but life. But we must in grace and knowledge. We are accustomed to living in the flesh, and so our mind must be renewed in order to walk in this new way of the Spirit. Yet, we also still have flesh, the place where sin dwells, to contend with, plus the lies from the enemy that tempts us to go back to where all that supposed fun was.

Synopsis

Do we, you and I, really grasp God’s love for us? That is what God’s power is for, to know the depth, height, width, and breadth of this love God has for us. When we face trials and tribulations, and we will, do we doubt that God loves us? That is where this truth that God has stored in our hearts comes alive in faith. When we know that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus, then those trials and tribulations are seen as but light and momentary, forming in us attitudes of heart far greater that can never be taken from us. See, we come to the depths of understanding that Christ really is our life.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18
¹⁶ Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. ¹⁷ For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. ¹⁸ So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Synopsis

There are so many times that we hear, or have said things ourselves, that are just not true. Whether we are a new believer, not having spent enough time in the word, or are not getting in the word, to get to know the Agape love of God, we have not fully grasped what we already have in Him. We do not know He is there. We might know in our head, can quote scriptures from memory, but we do not know what that means, for what is in our head has not gone down into our heart. So there is a maturing process that God works out in us to know that which He has freely given us. But we have this promise, that God will complete that which He began in us.

First there is natural birth, and we are born in Adam, dead spiritually. Even Adam was created out of the dust, created dead, until God breathed in him the breath of life.
