Bob George discusses insights from God’s word. In part two, Bob addressed where true godly enthusiasm comes from, from God in contrast to worldly knowledge or fleshly zeal and the proud heart. He discusses the church, the people of God, who have been strengthened from God to do the work of the ministry, so in all things God will be praised. So God gives people as gifts to the church so that all will grow in maturity in Christ, to the unity in the faith, to the knowledge of the Son of God, and to the full measure of Christ, to know Him, to grasp how great is His love for you. Through God at work within the church, abiding in Christ, the fruit of the Spirit is made manifest. Bob continues teaching from Ephesians concerning the immature church, being tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine and deceitful scheming of men. Bob shares about the proper operation of spiritual gifts in the church for building the church up to maturity in Christ. Bob George discusses insights from God’s word. In part one, Bob addressed the laws of love; to love God and to love your neighbor as yourself. Bob explained man’s inability to love, requiring the need to be born again, to be placed into the body of Christ, the true Church, the Ecclesia. In part two of this three part series, Bob addresses the functioning of the church as the people of God, where this love of Christ is to be worked out, so the people of God can grow in maturity to know the fullness of God. Bob explains that the true church is the Ecclesia, the “called out ones”. He explains that the spiritual gifts are people whom God sent to build up the body of Christ, the church. He explains the role of teachers, prophets and apostles in that proper context. In every case, people are to be dependent on the Holy Spirit in them, as a branch on a vine, to do the work of ministry that God has prepared for them to do. Bob George discusses insights on the subject of the law from God’s word. In part one of this three part series, Bob addresses the law of love. Bob explains how Jesus fulfilled all of the entire Old Testament, including the 10 commandments but also all the of the Law, the Pentateuch with all its ceremonial laws also, and the prophets and the psalms. Jesus is God in the flesh and God is love and love is the fulfillment of the law. God poured out His love into our hearts when we were born again, a new spiritual birth where the Holy Spirit was placed in us. So, we are not under the law (singular), as described in the Old Covenant with the Jews, but we are under grace, under new laws of love with only two commands, to love God and to love your neighbor as yourself, and neither of these are listed in the 10 commandments. Bob explains further from the book of Hebrews this contrast between the Law (singular) of the Old Covenant to laws (plural) of the New Covenant. Bob addressed common questions in the world today. “Can believers marry again after divorce?”, “What did Jesus teach in Matthew?”, “What should we do when we sin as believers?”, and “Have I committed the sin of blasphemy?” are the questions asked by several callers. The callers are asking essentially the same question. “What does it mean to walk by faith?” Bob explains the New Covenant we are living under as believers as a covenant of grace, same as a will or a testament, started when Jesus shed hi blood on the cross. By properly understanding Jesus as being a Jew and and Old Covenant, speaking about the New Covenant in the gospels, one can more easily discern the meaning of scriptures in their proper context. For example, why would Jesus say, “Be perfect as I am perfect?”. I know myself I could never perfectly obey the law. Bob answers questions from several callers, mostly calling for clarification on the scriptures that they had struggle with understanding. Kenny, relocating due to his job, was trying to discern where to spend time with a new local body of believers. He was exposed to hearing teaching on the prosperity gospel and women pastors and what the word of God had to say about those things. Teachers of the prosperity gospel are charlatans in accordance with what one reads from 1 Timothy 6. Bob explains that they are using godliness as a means for financial gain, among other things. As far a woman pastors, God designed woman as a helper suitable for man, and, according to scripture are not to be put in a position in authority over a man. That has to do with God’s choice in creation and not a matter of equality but one in purpose or role. Bob George shares from the Word of God to encourage believers by a message of grace. Bob reviews again the things discussed in part two, the humility in Christ Jesus, who being God in the flesh, who in the Spirit who created all there is, yet became obedient to death on a cross for you and me. That attitude of Christ, his humility, is in us as children of God, by the Holy Spirit he has given us. So then, we are to work out what has been worked in us so the fruit of the Spirit is seen as we live in this depraved and wicked world. So we should be known as those who do not argue and complain but rather by those who serve one another in love. So our minds must be renewed so as to realize all that God has freely given. We live in error because we have thinking like that of the world that needs to be transformed into the attitude of Christ.
