Knowing Jesus is What Counts

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P46 (08-03-20)

Synopsis

In this flesh of ours, we will have our struggles, this conflict between the Spirit who lives in us and our sin-indwelling flesh. We indeed are weak people. But that is what God wants us to realize about ourselves so that we may boast in Him, rely on Him. We are designed to trust Him, and that comes out of responding to Him. God is the initiator and we are the responder. That is so important for us to realize and understand. He truly is our life.

We love because He first loved us. God is love. God is Agape love. But sometimes, instead of operating in the Spirit, entering into that relationship we have with God, who is living in us, we rely on our feelings. We tend to drift to worldly wisdom, which is no wisdom at all. We think how much more fun it was when we were lost. What kind of thinking is that? That enslaved you, and made you so miserable that you came to Christ for life. Those thoughts are the enemy of our soul. God has so much better … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus is Our Joy

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P45 (07-29-20)

Synopsis

The natural man does not know God, and God is love, so he operates in what is called fleshly love. We do the only thing we know, and that is to please our flesh. So we use phrases like, “I love pizza” or “I love the beach.”. What does that really say about our understanding of love? It is saying that love is anything that makes me feel good.

Then when we become born again, we come to know God, who is love, where you have come to the end of yourself and to the beginning of Him, where you came to Him for what He came to give, life, not just for forgiveness, but life. But we must in grace and knowledge. We are accustomed to living in the flesh, and so our mind must be renewed in order to walk in this new way of the Spirit. Yet, we also still have flesh, the place where sin dwells, to contend with, plus the lies from the enemy that tempts us to go back to where all that supposed fun was.

We forget about the … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Walk by Faith in His Spirit

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P44 (07-28-20)

Synopsis

Do we, you and I, really grasp God’s love for us? That is what God’s power is for, to know the depth, height, width, and breadth of this love God has for us. When we face trials and tribulations, and we will, do we doubt that God loves us? That is where this truth that God has stored in our hearts comes alive in faith. When we know that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus, then those trials and tribulations are seen as but light and momentary, forming in us attitudes of heart far greater that can never be taken from us. See, we come to the depths of understanding that Christ really is our life.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen

Jesus is Our Wisdom

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P43 (07-27-20)

Synopsis

There are so many times that we hear, or have said things ourselves, that are just not true. Whether we are a new believer, not having spent enough time in the word, or are not getting in the word, to get to know the Agape love of God, we have not fully grasped what we already have in Him. We do not know He is there. We might know in our head, can quote scriptures from memory, but we do not know what that means, for what is in our head has not gone down into our heart. So there is a maturing process that God works out in us to know that which He has freely given us. But we have this promise, that God will complete that which He began in us.

First there is natural birth, and we are born in Adam, dead spiritually. Even Adam was created out of the dust, created dead, until God breathed in him the breath of life. That same breath, the Holy Spirit of God, must be put back into man, everyone born in Adam, in order … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus is Love Patient and Kind

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P42 (07-22-20)

Synopsis

As you have gone through this definition of love, and asked yourself, “How well am I doing?” I think you will think you will come to the same conclusion I did. I cannot put myself anywhere in that list. That love can only be a definition of God. I must conclude that “I cannot, but God can”. So I turn my focus back on Christ Jesus, and have to rely on Him. I say, “I am weak, but He is strong.” I have to say, “Christ is my life. He is my only hope of glory.”

As I ponder over this, I must ask the Lord to work His way in me, that this love, that is a fruit of the Spirit, is produced in me and through me. Do I keep a record of how someone wronged me, pondering over a painful memory and not letting it go, or bringing it back in my mind, so I am hindered in giving out unconditional love to someone else? Am I hard on myself because I failed to act in love? Has God changed His attitude and … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus is the Perfect Love of God

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P41 (07-21-20)

Synopsis

We just really do not know what love is, this love of God. We think the opposite of love is hate, but the opposite of love is pride. Pride is what caused the fall of man in the garden of Eden, and what we are naturally born with. Pride seeks to go its own way, is not teachable, and is in essence, self seeking. This sin nature is what you see in a child that will holler and scream until he gets his own way. That has to be trained out of a child.

And, then people in the Christian world tend to think of love as what you do on Sunday morning, when you smile real big and greet someone in the pew next to you, but then promptly forget his name or anything he said, or what you boast about when you tithe, have your quiet time, read your bible, or pray all the time. That is not love. Love is what you do, that you should do every day and every moment of the day, when you rely on Christ to do that … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
