Jesus is God - John 5

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 23 (05-21-19)

Bob George continues teaching from John 5. He shares again about the Holy Spirit, how this person of the Trinity is our guide and counselor. God sent Jesus to explain how to live in total dependence on the Holy Spirit. Jesus emptied himself of his divine attributes, lived as a man like us, except without sin and lived in total dependence of His Father. So we, who are born again, should let the Spirit of God, living in us, guide us into all truth and counsel us. The Holy Spirit instructs us, showing us the error in our thinking, in order to replace error in our minds with truth. So let us walk in the Spirit and see this fruit be produced in us and through us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.

Bob George also shared the process that takes place in the mind of an unbeliever for him to come to Christ. The law at work, with the drawing of the Holy Spirit, reveals to him his condition of spiritual death. He looks at the law that says do not commit adultery or do not steal or do not covet or love your neighbor or do good to others, but then realizes that there is something wrong with him.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

A Humble Heart

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P441 (5-17-19)

Clarence called to express concern over so many false teachers on the airways. Marie called to say that she did not believe in “once saved, always saved” but then was unwilling to listen to truth. She did not call to learn but to preach. So Bob had to cut off the air and then explain the truth on eternal security in salvation to the listeners. Charles called to ask what is the sin of blasphemy. Bob explained what that is from scripture and further explained what God accomplished in sending his son Jesus to die on the cross to take away the sins of the entire world. Bob further explained that salvation is the receiving of life. Mark called to ask if you can lose your salvation. Bob first asked Mark to explain what he knew and then explained in detail what salvation is.  Salvation is being saved from the consequences of sin, which is death, by the gift of God, which is life. Elizabeth called to ask what it means to endure to he end. Bob asked her what she understood and then explained the simplicity of the gospel, appealing her to come to Christ for life.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus is God of Life

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 21 (05-15-19)

Bob George shared from John 5 where Jesus asked a man who was an invalid for over 38 years, “Do you want to get well?”. The man was having a pity party. Jesus saw through that and just told him to get up, pick up his mat and walk. Bob addressed the question, “Do you want to get well?” The question, “Do you want to get well?” is a vital question. It is not the fact we can’t but the fact that we do not want to. To someone, the answer may be that he does not want to get well. The issue is are you willing to sacrifice the peace of God that surpasses understanding for a temporary peace that passes away the minute the situation is over? Would you consider asking the Lord to help you be willing to change your want to? So whether the issue is being grumpy, having your own way, depression, addiction, marital problems, or any number of issues, do you want to get well?

Bob then addressed the stupidity of religion when the Jewish leaders griped about Jesus healing a man on the Sabbath. That is what religion still does today.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Want to Want to

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 20 (05-14-19)

Bob continues sharing from John 4 and John 5. In John 4, we read about Jesus healing a Father’s son. His father came to Jesus begging him to heal his son, having heard all that Jesus did, knowing of his healing power. In John 5, we read about a man who was disabled for 38 years, in a state of self pity, and was asked by Jesus if he wanted to get well.

Bob explains the more important reason Jesus came. He came to heal the person, spiritual healing, as of utmost importance. Even in today’s world, so many people are infatuated with signs and wonders and healing. Do you want to get well or would you rather remain in your condition? Do you come to Jesus for signs and wonders or do you come to Jesus by faith in what he accomplished for you at the cross? He came to rise again from the dead in order to give new spiritual life to you. Do you recognize your state of spiritual death? Do you know that the only available life for you is in Jesus Christ? Are you in Christ Jesus?… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus is God

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 3 (04-03-19)

Bob George continues teaching from the book of John. He encourages all believers to pick up the gospel of John over and over again so you may know the love of God. What counts is lives changed by the Holy Spirit living in men, where faith expresses itself through love. The love that is produced in you is the love of God so that love can be expressed through you.

Galatians 5:6
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.

John 1:1-3
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

There was a beginning for you and the beginning was the word of God. When God created this world, how did he create it? God created everything there is by his word. This world came into existence by the spoken word of God. So we know that the word was with God and the word was God.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Classic Christianity – Our Attitude Towards Legalism Part 3 (03-27-19)

Bob George continues sharing a lesson on our attitude toward legalism from the example of Jesus in Matthew 23. Follow along as Bob provides insight into the seven woes Jesus had spoken to the legalistic Pharisees in his day. Jesus spoke this way because he loved them enough to tell them the truth. Would you speak truthfully to legalists in today’s world? Are we blind to our own weaknesses and need someone to speak truthfully to us? Let us learn from the Spirit so we can have the same attitude toward legalism as Jesus.

Bob George then explains the condition of all our hearts. Are we not also inconsistent, smiling one day and cursing another? Can you be kind and nice one day, but honk your horn in anger at the one who cut in front of you on the freeway? Do you see the internal attitude of your own heart? Do you see that in your heart you committed murder by the hate inside you? Do you see only the exterior of the law, and think yourself as being okay. So you say you have never committed adultery yet you have looked lustfully in your heart at a girl?… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
