Salvation is Not Getting Sins Forgiven

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 63 (08-26-19)

Synopsis

Salvation is not about how sinful we are but how dead we are. Often times, all you hear from the pulpit is how sinful you are. Yes, sin is the cause of death, but death is worse than sin. But what you often erroneously hear is to come down an altar to get your sins forgiven. Well, I got news for you. Salvation is not getting your sins forgiven, but getting new life, God’s life.

Why is salvation not getting your sins forgiven? Well, that is the preparation part of it. Jesus already died to take away the sins of the entire world. His shed blood was once and for all, never to be repeated again, and was all sufficient to take away God’s wrath against all sin, sins from all eternity, past and future, for all men! So if getting sins forgiven is salvation, then everybody is saved already, and that would be called universal salvation. But that is not salvation that saves. Salvation is receiving new life.

Synopsis

The first caller, Anne, wanted to thank Bob for how he encouraged the previous caller, a man who was dying from cancer, to not make decisions based on fear and not to let the doctors or medical staff put fear in you. She had asked Bob if people should at least go more to the Lord instead of the medical profession or even pastors?

Bob and Anne both shared from personal experiences how much fear hospital staff and doctors put in you if you let them. Doctors will insist that if you do not do this or that procedure that you will have these consequences, that if you do not have open heart surgery that you will go into cardiac arrest. Te main point is that you do not let them drive your decision-making based on fear. You lean on the Lord for wisdom and understanding for the decisions you make.

Bob was in agreement with Anne on this matter. Both Anne and Bob shared much heart-breaking experiences of friends or relatives with cancer. A man dies much sooner than expected, and that even from something next to nothing, or a man suffers greater loss of quality of life by following the doctor’s advice, who often expresses the situation with fear, than if he just let the disease takes it course.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

God is Not Counting Your Sins Against You

Synopsis

The first caller, Hans, with understandably great emotion with weighty decisions to make. He shared that he is dying of melanoma cancer that has invaded much of his body already, including his brain. He had concerns about losing a relationship with God because of potential damage to his brain. Bob assured him that his relationship with God will always be there. You will never cease to be a child of God. You might not be able to pray to Him, but you are in His hands. He was also wanting advice on further treatments to take. Bob could not answer that for him, but for him to ask God for wisdom. God gives wisdom to all who ask without partiality. But he offered what he personally would want to know. If the cancer has invaded most of his body and that no amount of treatment will get rid of it, then the decision, to Bob, would be one of quality of life versus quantity of life. He would personally refuse continued treatment, if he had definitive information from the doctor on the matter. Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 62 (08-21-19)

Synopsis

Jesus is speaking to the Jews and is speaking about a very important truth concerning himself. Jesus came to speak truth into our hearts so that we might believe and be saved. But the work of the Spirit is so vital for men to be saved. No one can understand the meaning of the word of God apart from the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit reveals truth to men.

The seed of truth is planted in the hearts of men, men who are born dead, dead to understanding the things of God. But if the seed falls on humble souls, they accept that what Jesus says is true. They realize that what they are doing is not working. They come to realize they are dead and are looking for the meaning to life. When they hear truth about the life in Christ, they readily believe the truth when they hear it.

We are God’s servants, sewing the seed of God’s word, but God causes the growth through His word. They accept His offer of eternal life, having repented of trusting in whatever else they were trusting in to have life, and receive the very life of Christ, the Holy Spirit sealed in them the moment they believe.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 61 (08-20-19)

Synopsis

Bob continues to share from John 12. Jesus identifies Himself as the Light of the world. We live in a world full of darkness. The real darkness is that there are souls that do not have the Spirit of God living in them. The Light of the world is not living in them and they are wandering in darkness. They are blind to the truth and cannot understand truth when they hear it. Those who are humble of heart listen to truth and let that truth sink in. If my heart is dead, then I want to know how to get my heart alive. One day the truth comes alive in them. They believe the truth and are saved. Who can explain this?

Just putting your faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, and just putting your faith in that, something changes. One day you were going in one direction and the next, you are going in a completely different direction. Can you come up with an explanation for that? Were you hyped? Was it because of the brilliant presentation that somebody gave? Jesus is the Light of the World

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 60 (08-19-19)

Synopsis

Bob continues sharing from John 12, starting at verse 35. Jesus told the Jews that he is the light of the world and he is not going to be in the world much longer. Jesus entered this dark world that we live in. We were born in darkness, without the light of Christ living in us. The disciples heard the truth, they saw the Light, touched him, ate with him and listened to His Light. But they were in darkness, devoid of understanding without the Spirit of God living in them. While Jesus was with them, they were kept safe and being tutored until faith could be revealed in them. Later, when Jesus spoke of the promised Holy Spirit to come, on that day of Pentecost, they received the Spirit of God, the Light to live within them. Then, through the Holy Spirit living in them, all the things Jesus spoke to them was brought to their remembrance and they understood the meaning of Jesus words.
