Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 42 (07-08-19)

Bob George shares the meaning of God’s word as truth has been revealed to him by the Spirit of God. Jesus spoke truth to men, the meaning of God’s word, but the religious did not understand. There was no room in their heart for truth. The religious Jews studied the scriptures, knew what the word of God said, and even memorized much of the Old Testament, but rejected truth when they heard it from Jesus. Why were they looking for a way to kill Jesus? No room for his word. These are religious people. There are people who know the word of God from beginning to end, and in many cases, had most of the Old Testament memorized. Jesus said to them , “You have no room for my word in your heart.”

When a person leans on their own understanding, then they do not listen to whatever anyone else says that is contrary to what they have been taught from their traditions and practices since their youth. What is Salvation

Turn to the gospel of John.

Let us look at a passage of scripture so important to us that is so clear on what Jesus said in regards to salvation. Salvation is being saved from the consequences of sin, which is death, by the gift of God, which is the resurrected life of Jesus Christ. Mankind has all kinds of opinions on what salvation is. Are you saved by going to a certain denomination? No! By doing enough good or avoiding too much bad? No!

Do you lean on your understanding? We all have that tendency. Do you rely on what man has told you? Do you look at the DaVinci code, the philosophies of men or science for the answer to life? Where is your source of truth and is it reliable? Is it from men or from God and how would you know?

Man has the tendency to rely on his own understanding for truth, which is the same error in the garden of Eden. Adam chose to find out for himself what is right and wrong and what is good and evil. Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 40 (07-02-19)

Bob George shares a very practical message of the meaning of the gospel as he continues sharing from the gospel of John. He begins in John 8, where Jesus identifies himself as the light of the world, contrasting darkness (the lost, the dead) with the light (the saved, with life). You are not going into the market place telling people how sinful they are but how dead they are. No man will ever go to hell because of his sins but only because of the sin of the rejection of life. If you reject life you remain dead (John 3:36). If you reject the offer of forgiveness you remain unforgiven. You who are in Christ have good news to tell people. It is a very practical message of the meaning of the gospel. You, who are in Christ Jesus, are His ambassadors.

Bob George explains why Jesus came to this earth to say what he did and do what he did, culminating in his death, burial and resurrection. Salvation is Eternal Life in Jesus

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 39 (07-01-19)

Bob George continues sharing from the gospel of John. He shared about how the disciples waited in Galilee to receive the promised Holy Spirit. That day they were born again. When they received the Holy Spirit, they were changed men. Before they were once cowardly and fearful, hiding in a room fearing for their lives, and now they are preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ boldly before men. There are those in the crowd who were drawn to hear the teachings of Jesus. So too was Nicodemus, a religious Pharisee. Unlike the other Pharisees, he wanted to know the will of God. Nicodemus had said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.” The other Pharisees were like Communists or politicians of today, not wanting to hear truth, but just spin a story. They hated Jesus without reason. Jesus came full of grace and truth. This is very evident in John 8 in how he restores a woman caught in adultery. Believe in Jesus Not Your Belief System

Bob George continues teaching from the gospel of John. Bob shared from the scripture that when your desire is to do God’s will then you will in the right attitude to believe in who Jesus claimed to be. Do you really want to do God’s will or do you want what you want and when you want it? If you have heard God’s word, are you willing to trust what you heard? Or, are you inclined to trust the words of men over the word of God? Are you persuaded that the one who said he is God really is God? If you do then you would know how mankind was created and you would not believe in evolution. You know the Holy One of God and you know that what he says is true and believe what he says. Even though Jesus is not walking on the earth today, the divine word has been recorded down for us as men were carried along by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21). The Holy Spirit resides in people who have believed the message of Christ and accepted his offer of eternal life. Belief in Jesus

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 32 (06-11-19)

The disciples, whom Jesus spent 3 years with, came to accept the truth Jesus was sharing concerning eternal life, except Judas Iscariot who later betrayed him. These disciples had an encounter with the living God. It was a hard teaching because it was so contrary to what they are so accustomed to hearing, since, like all of us, live in the natural realm and are born spiritually dead. But Peter, a disciple of Jesus, caught the message. Bob George also had an encounter with God and was born again in 1969. This is not an encounter where you physically see Jesus but where you hear spiritual truth. Truth is revealed to you by the Spirit of God. The Spirit has spoken deep into your heart that you are spiritually dead and in need of life and you accepted the only available life, the resurrected life of Christ.

Jesus is speaking on earth to these men concerning what he is going to do in the near future, to die, be buried and then to rise again.
