Jesus is Prophecy Fulfilled for Your Sins

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Jesus Christ P26 (12-08-20)

Synopsis

As we continue in our study, we now turn to look at a more magnified look at the crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth. We have a prophecy from the psalmist David, in Psalm 22, some thousand years before the event of his crucifixion ever occurred. Through this prophecy we gain insight into who Jesus is and why He came. The disciples of Jesus, both Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, record what they observed actually happen at the foot of the cross, concerning Jesus last words, as he hung there on a cross for you and me.

Recall also what Jesus told his disciples after his resurrection, as he walked on earth for many days.

Luke 24:44
44 He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”

This alone tells you that Jesus said he fulfilled what was spoken in the Psalms concerning himself, and how that had to happen that way. In other words, this was just not some tragic unexpected event … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus is Light - Place Faith in Him

Thanksgiving Law & Grace P3 – Bob George (11-27-20)

Synopsis

Let us reflect on Christ and be thankful. When we ponder all that we have in Christ, how can we not be thankful? At Thanksgiving we can reflect on our nation, but what I really rejoice in is that I have been set free in Christ. To ponder over the wretched state of death I was once in, so miserable that I cried out to God for help, and He rescued me. He led me to new life in Christ Jesus. And today, I rejoice that that same grace that saved me then is the same life that continually saves me now.

I thank Him for renewing my mind, encouraging me and knowing that when I do sin, I am not condemned. Why? I am no longer under the law of sin and death. All the judgment and punishment for sin was placed on a cross so there is none left for me! And I am so grateful that I am under grace. He supplies everything I need to live. I can rest in Him, although realizing that on this earth I will still sin, never going to be in … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Jesus Christ P8 (10-20-20)

Synopsis

Growing in grace is growing to understand all that God has freely given you, to know the inheritance you have in Christ Jesus, and to learn to rest in Him. It is maturing in your knowledge of the grace of God that has been extended to you in Christ Jesus. It is maturing as you hit life’s problems, trials and tribulations. We have an option to either walk by faith in Jesus who said “I am the way, the truth and the life”, or to go out and try to solve them on our own.

As we learned yesterday, God is the great I Am. But knowing that God is our creator God, what does that practically mean to you and me today? Jesus explained what that meant when He identified Himself as the I Am and illustrated with additional I Am statements, amplifying in physical terms that you and I can relate to. We know what bread and water means to our physical existence. We experience light and darkness whenever day turns to night, and see the contrast as we lay our head on a pillow … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus - Who Do You Say I AM

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Jesus Christ P7 (10-19-20)

Synopsis

So the question that needs to be answered is this. Who do you say that I am, the Jesus we have been studying about this past week? We have been reading from the scriptures the claims Jesus Christ has said concerning Himself. These things were written down so that you might believe Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. This statement is a record of what Jesus said, and is His bold explanation of the gospel, a message of good news of new life, that He came in order to offer us. The gospel, the message of salvation, is about life, new spiritual life, eternal life, God’s life, to be made available to all mankind.

Let us not stop at the cross, where he shed his blood and died, but let us move on to the resurrection. He came not only to take away our sins, when he shed his blood on a cross, without which there is no forgiveness of sins. But He also came to rise again, in order for life to be given … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus is Our Only Hope of Glory

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Jesus Christ P5 (10-13-20)

Synopsis

If you were to visit Israel, you would see the Sea of Galilee, and those places recorded in the scriptures where Jesus had been, on the boat with Peter, and who had walked with Peter, James and John. Here is God in the flesh. Would you have recognized him as God? He claimed to be God, but he looks like just one of us, human. We know his father and mother, Joseph and Mary. Well, Joseph was assumed to be his father. We also know his younger brothers. How hard it must have been for them in those days to know Jesus is God unless there was also additional evidence that he is. Let us explore further the evidence of his claims to be God.

Still today, people will scoff at that, those things Jesus said concerning himself. “How can a mere man claim to be God?” The truth is, he is not a mere man, and he was born from a virgin, so His Father truly is God, and Joseph is really like a step father to him while he walked on the earth. But God is … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus is The Light of Life

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P4 (04-27-20)

Synopsis

Turn to 1 Thessalonians 5:4-11, Ephesians 6, and Galatians 5:5-6. We are going to learn more about this faith, hope and love. We will see this connection of faith to putting on the full armor of God in Ephesians 6, so we can stand against the powers of darkness, of evil forces, in heavenly places. Much of what the apostle Paul lists is defensive armor, which we put on so we can stand, the breastplate of righteousness, the helmet of salvation, the feet shodded with the gospel of peace, and other spiritual truth Paul illustrates with the armor on a Roman soldier.

Since as children of God, we are no longer in darkness, and can see more clearly, not with physical eyes, but with spiritual eyes, and in truth. For the Holy Spirit is living in us, guiding us into all truth. Truth is what we stand on, the very words that proceed from the mouth of God. The truth revealed to us through the scriptures we hold in our hands is powerful to take down strongholds. So, the word of God is the sword of … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
