How many times do we see people stream down the aisles in order to receive Christ where their only understanding was I am going to come down to keep from going to hell? Then you leave that experience like you would on the day of atonement feeling good, but then the big question comes. What happens when I sin tomorrow or on the way back to the pew? I went forward and got my sins forgiven, but I just sinned on the way back to the pew. Then there is someone who will quote 1 John 1:9 as necessary to stay in fellowship with God, that you must ask God to forgive you when you sin. In other words, you just negated what you did at the altar. Knowing the Finality of the Cross and Being Made Complete in Christ Exposes the Common Errors Taught in Christendom Still Today

Preachers can be quite persuasive with illustrations that sure makes something sound so believable and true. They may not be doing this deliberately trying to deceive the people, but they are passing along error of what has been taught to them. They could be well-meaning and sincere, but nevertheless what they are teaching is error. So it is important that we grow in discernment by checking out whatever anyone says by studying the word of God ourselves, relying on the Holy Spirit, who lives in us, to teach us the meaning.

A common example of wrongful teaching is on this area of forgiveness, making a distinction between judicial forgiveness, that which Jesus’ death takes away, and then those parental sins that we must still confess to get back in fellowship with God on. The Forgiveness of Sins Has Been Done Once and For All and In Him You have Forgiveness of Sins and Are Made Complete in Christ Jesus

How is that two people can both hear the same message concerning Christ, and one will become born again and another not? Recall what Jesus told in the parable of the farmer who sowed his seed (Mark 4:1-25). As you read the scriptures, such as Hebrews, what is your attitude of heart? Do you read it with a filter on, as if only a priest can explain the meaning of it to you? Or are you reading it for answers to the meaning and purpose of life, that if I do not understand what this means, I will not be made alive or able to live? Are you reading it that if God Himself does not explain the meaning to me, I will not know what it means? Where is the condition of your heart, is it hard towards God or is it soft and pliable? Who Is Jesus and for What Reason Did He Die on a Cross Only To Rise Again?

As you think about the fact that our calendar dates have B.C., before Christ, and A.D., Anum Domini, the year of our Lord, you have to conclude there is something significant about a person named Jesus of Nazareth and being identified as Christ or Messiah. Even though the world focuses so much on the birth of Christ, God views the world from the perspective of before the cross and after the cross, the true dividing line of human history. But we do know, just from the calendar, that Jesus was a historical person, who was born into this world, so the whole world must know he existed. To be referenced on our calendars, then he must have accomplished something. What is significant and unique about this person, Christ Jesus?

Many of us have grown up in some sort of religion where we at least heard about God and something about Jesus. And one topic you will almost always hear about is forgiveness of sins. Yet, sadly that is also a topic that can also be a controversial topic! Why is that? God gave His word so we may know the truth on such a foundational issue, the issue of sin that caused our death. And the more serious problem is that we are all born dead spiritually. And the crux of the matter is, because of our condition since birth, there is no one who seeks God. We may know about God. We may know He is the Son of God yet not know what that means. We may even know something about the fact that Jesus died on a cross. What the Cross Made Possible for Mankind: An Indestructible Life

What did Jesus’ shed blood on a cross make possible for you and I? And, if Jesus was not raised from the dead, would all that was made possible by the cross be a reality in our life? Think about these questions as you ponder over the passages of scriptures in Hebrews, where the New Covenant God made, not just with the Israelites, but with all of mankind, is explained. Looking at specific passages in scriptures, such as Hebrews 9:22, 27-28, Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:1-18, what conclusions can you come to in regard to the totality of the cross? What can you say in regard to the forgiveness of sins, of being made holy, to be made complete, in Christ?

What God has done for us in this New Covenant is He tells us that He will remember our sins no more and where these have been forgiven there is no longer any sacrifice for sins.
