The Gift of God

Classic Christianity – Christmas P2 (12-24-19)

Synopsis

You are wondering about the meaning of life? You notice a nativity set on the front lawn of a neighbor’s house. You cannot help but hear about a person named Jesus. So you decide you want to find out more about who this Jesus is. Another person is steeped in religion. He goes to what people call church. He too is wondering about the meaning of life. He has heard a few things about Jesus. He knows about the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, but a message of what that accomplished for him personally has never been told, and certainly never understood. He is burdened down by all the things he is trying to get sins forgiven and decides he is tired of all this. He is looking for answers also. Why am I here? Where will I go when I die? Why do I feel empty inside?

This is a picture of the Jew and the Gentile. The lost Jew is steeped in religion, and although he has all of the law and the prophets, and has heard about God, he does not understand what the promised Messiah came to do. The Gentile hardly knows anything about God.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus Took Away All Your Sins
Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P499 (12-19-19)

Synopsis

When you have a question on a hard to understand topic, one thing you can be sure of, the answer has to be in agreement with what salvation is, of what the gospel is. A good question to answer first is this: Do you believe that Jesus took away the sins of the entire world? Now, is your answer to that based on what the Holy Spirit has revealed to you through the scriptures, or are you merely repeating what you heard from a denominational persuasion? Your answer to that question will determine how you are going to interpret other scriptures? Consider the following passages of scripture. I will list some verses, but go back and read the entire verses in their context. If you have the Holy Spirit living in you, then you can rely on the Spirit to reveal to you the meaning. Based on these scriptures, what do you believe these scriptures mean? Romans 5:10, 1 John 2:2, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Hebrews 9:22, Hebrews 9:12, Hebrews 9:26, and Hebrews 10:10. If the Holy Spirit is living in you, then you shall know the truth. Grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, and grow in discernment so that when you hear false teaching, you know it and are not caught off guard.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus Took Away Your Sins on The Cross
Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P497 (12-13-19)

Synopsis

Every now and then, someone calls, asking how to be saved. Wayne had been listening to Classic Christianity Radio about the condition of the heart. He knew he was not saved and wanted to be saved. So he asked to call about how he can be saved. Listen as Bob George explains the good news of the gospel. In summary, salvation is being saved from the consequences of sin, which is death, by the gift of God, which is the resurrected life of Christ Jesus. You place your faith in what Christ Jesus alone accomplished for you through his death, burial and resurrection. Knowing you are a sinner, that Jesus took that sin away already, 2000 years ago when he shed his blood on a cross, you recognize your condition of spiritual death. Knowing that, you turn in total faith in Christ’s resurrection to save you, to give you new spiritual life. You receive, believe in the name of Jesus, to save you. You are not saved by the death of Christ, that was preparation, but you are saved by the life of Christ. Another caller, Sean, has been reading his bible, and he is familiar with the book of Romans, but then in the book of James, he reads about where James talks about faith without works is dead.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

We Were Reconciled to God

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P21 (12-11-19)

Synopsis

This passage of scripture, in this 5th chapter of Romans, is one of the most important chapters in the entire bible. It takes the whole deal and encapsulates the entire gospel in Christ. Looking at just Romans 5:10, we have an explanation of how God reconciled the world unto himself. Sadly, many people have not understood the latter part of this verse, that we are saved by his life.

You are not saved by the death of Christ. You are saved by the life of Christ. His death is what was necessary to prepare us for salvation, and is necessary for salvation. For if Jesus did not die to take away the sins of the entire world, the next time man sinned he would die again. But death does not give life. Life gives life.

Forgiveness also does not give life. This also is the most understood doctrine, what salvation is. Untold thousands of people understand salvation as getting your sins forgiven. But that is not salvation. Yet, there are people, such as Calvinists, who think that salvation is getting your sins forgiven.

If your premise of what salvation is, is off, then your conclusions are off.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Christ Died For Us

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P20 (12-10-19)

Synopsis

Reading through Romans, we come to understand the purpose of the law. Recall the Jews were in slavery. When you are a slave, you are not free, but you are controlled by someone else. Now, when they are delivered out of slavery in Egypt, laws are needed to prevent anarchy and chaos. So God added laws for their benefit. But the Jews turned the law into a means for righteousness before God. The law was never meant for that.

As we discussed earlier, sin is the cause of man’s death, and the root of sin is the nature inherited from Adam, that says, “I will decide for myself what is right and what is wrong, what is good and what is evil”. Now, if everyone does what is right in his own eyes, what happens? Lawlessness, disorder and chaos. So God initiated to man, wrote down what is right and wrong, and gave man the ten commandments. Now the law is not something to live by but something needed to restrain man from his own self destruction. Man was created to live in a dependent, loving relationship with the living God. Love is the fulfillment of the love, for love does his neighbor no wrong.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
