Ephesians 4:22-28

22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Classic Christianity – Bob George (12-11-18) Continuation of Message from Monday

Bob George shares insight from the book of Ephesians, particularly the first four chapters.

The first four chapters of Ephesians explains what Christ means to us. Jesus Christ completed the work that he began in us. He did it all. He created the universe, recreated you and me, those born again spiritually, into a new creation. He has given us his life and became life for us. He has not just given us his life but he is our life. That is why the Apostle Paul could say:

Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Prior to the day of Pentecost nobody is indwelt with the Spirit of God. The Spirit came on men for divine service and then could leave. That is why David prayed this prayer in the Psalms.

Psalm 51:11
Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.

Why David prayed that the Spirit not be taken from him is because in the time period he lived, long before Jesus even walked the earth, before he died to take away sin, the Holy Spirit did not take permanent residence in men.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Bob George shares insight from the book of Ephesians, particularly the first four chapters.

The first caller, Ed, wanted clarification on a passage of scripture from Romans 8 to help him understand the concept and workings of the flesh and the Spirit. Bob addresses from the scripture what the flesh and the Spirit are and how a believer is intended to walk with a renewed mind. The second caller, Jack, a relatively new believer, was puzzled why there are so many different interpretations among different churches. It seemed strange for that to be when the Spirit guides the believer into all truth. Beginning with that very verse, Bob answers his question. The third caller, Vivian, called to thank Bob for his teaching of truth that set her free from 40 years of guilt. But her question was about why she has a lack of awareness of the Holy Spirit in her. Bob addressed her question that one does not rely on feelings but on the truth of God’s word. Bob George answers Andy’s question in regards to the proper application of the 10 commandments by sharing truth revealed in scripture. In Galatians 3:19-24 is where we learn about the purpose of the law.

19 Why, then, was the law given at all? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come. The law was given through angels and entrusted to a mediator. 20 A mediator, however, implies more than one party; but God is one.

Bob George TeachingBob George shares insights from Jesus encounter with the Samaritan woman in the book of John. He briefly retells the story with the primary focus on walking in the Spirit and being led of the Lord. He also shares the interaction between Jesus and His disciples, following Jesus return from talking with the Samaritan woman. He shares more fully about what it means to walk in Spirit and in truth, what it means to seek God and what is a believer’s reasonable act of service. He shares several examples of walking in the flesh from his observation of the religious world. He then shares a testimony of his early childhood and later coming to know Christ. He shares the tendency of all believers to have doubts and to be discouraged in their walk or in sharing truth. But one must realize you are believing a lie, as Satan does not want you to finish the race. Yet, God is at work to develop the believer.
