All People Are Law Breakers

Thanksgiving Law & Grace P1 – Bob George (11-25-20)

Synopsis

When we think of what Jesus did for us at the cross, we have much to be thankful for. We were born spiritually dead, born under the law of sin and death in weakened flesh. Unless we are out from under that law of sin that caused our death, then we will remain in a state of eternal death, forever separated from the Lord, miserable, wretched and without hope. But God in the person of Jesus Christ rescued us, reconciled us to Himself, having paid the just requirements of the law for us. Our sins were judged. The verdict was guilty. The punishment was death and Jesus took it all.

Jesus’ shed blood on a cross is what prepared the way for life to be given. Now that sin and death is out of the way, and He has risen from the dead. He offers the same life that raised Him from the dead to you and me. As great as it is for our sins to be forgiven, how much greater is being made alive in Christ Jesus. For if Jesus was not raised from the dead then I … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus is The Bread of Life

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Jesus Christ P6 (10-14-20)

Synopsis

God has made Himself known to all men through His Son, in how He lived and in what He has done. The Spirit has gone into all the world. There is nowhere His voice has not been heard. God the Father sent His only Son into this world and the Holy Spirit revealed the Son to men, as the one whom He claimed to be, God, and God is Spirit. Those who worship God must worship Him in Spirit and in truth.

Jesus came to proclaim truth into the hearts of men, truth about themselves, their sinful condition, their condition of spiritual death, and about their need of life and that life is the life that is in Christ, who is eternal life. If you have the Son, you have that life. So He is not far from any one of you. His Spirit is drawing all men unto Himself. Will you believe the message and receive new life in Christ Jesus?

Wise men will seek to know God. They will look intently into the words of Christ, and have a heart open to hear and receive truth. … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Come to Jesus for Life

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P29 (01-14-19)

Synopsis

Recall that in Romans, Paul explains the purpose of the law and explains what God did to bring salvation to fallen mankind. He goes on to explain law and grace. In doing so, he anticipates the common questions that man would ask.

Romans 6:1
1 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?

Romans 6:15 (NASB)
15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be!

Romans 7:7
7 What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful?

Paul answers these questions, explaining the grace of God, the totality of the cross, the resurrection, and how man is made complete in Christ. Still today, there is much confusion on what salvation is. You have numerous denominations out there, and what they could be telling you is true or not true. How would you know?

The Holy Spirit reveals truth to men, and truth is revealed to you through his word. So a lost person cannot discern the things of God because they are spiritually discerned. But the saved person, a person with the Spirit of … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Salvation is Not by Works

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P16 (12-02-19)

Synopsis

From the book of Romans, in the rest of Romans chapter 4, Paul is contrasting law and grace. The law condemns a person as a sinner, but grace sets a person free. Grace is Jesus. He is the only one who could take away the cause of death, which is sin. Having no sin of his own, being God in the flesh, he laid down his life to pay the price of death for sin.

That is what the apostle Paul described as reconciliation. Reconciliation is an accounting term, where a person writes off a debt that is owed. It would be like a man who owed a tremendous amount of money and then went bankrupt. The merchant pays the debt and writes it off the books. That is what Jesus did.

Now to be clear, the cross is how God reconciled the world to himself. That is preparatory for salvation but it is not salvation. If salvation was getting your sins forgiven, then that would be universal salvation. But that is not salvation. Salvation is the receiving of new life.

Jesus did not stay dead, God raised him from the … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

The Finality of the Cross

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P476 (9-26-19)

Transcript

Tom from Louisville, KY

Tom: A friend of mine, a pastor of a church I go to, is not resting in the finality of the cross. From a passage in Hebrews chapter 3 where it says if we hold firmly to the end, the confidence we have at first, where he is trying to tell men you can lose your salvation. What does it mean to hold on firmly to the end?

Hebrews 3:14
14 We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end.

Bob: The solution to biblical interpretation is context. What is the context of the first three chapters of Hebrews? It is about the superiority of Christ in contrast to the things the Jews are holding onto. He is superior to the angels. He is superior to Moses. He is superior to Abraham. He is God Himself. He is gearing us toward a rest, and that is coming up in chapter 4. That is the the Sabbath rest He wants us to enter into.

Bob: You know that you have the story of the Jews who were … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Classic Christianity – Call-In Bob George p398 (12-07-18)

Bob George RadioBob George answers calls from various listeners, proving clarification of scriptures with practical insight from God’s word. The callers today asked Bob to clarify the understanding of certain passages of scriptures. One person asked if a person could ever be blotted out of the book of life in reference to a passage of scripture in Revelation 3. Another person was bothered about what she perceived as a war between good and evil that if people go to hell then would that not indicate God lost the war? Bob addressed the person by redirecting her away from thinking in terms of winning and losing. God is not in a competition with Satan. Instead he encouraged her to ponder over the fact of how God chose to create man with a free will. Because of that choice of design, man can choose to come to Christ by faith or reject him. Many indeed will reject him but that is by a choice. For the heart and desire of God is that none should perish but all come to faith in him for eternal to be with God forever. Another person was all bogged down … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
