Synopsis

Bob continues to share from John 12. Jesus identifies Himself as the Light of the world. We live in a world full of darkness. The real darkness is that there are souls that do not have the Spirit of God living in them. The Light of the world is not living in them and they are wandering in darkness. They are blind to the truth and cannot understand truth when they hear it. Those who are humble of heart listen to truth and let that truth sink in. If my heart is dead, then I want to know how to get my heart alive. One day the truth comes alive in them. They believe the truth and are saved. Who can explain this?

Just putting your faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, and just putting your faith in that, something changes. Jesus is the Light of the World

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 60 (08-19-19)

Synopsis

Bob continues sharing from John 12, starting at verse 35. Jesus told the Jews that he is the light of the world and he is not going to be in the world much longer. Jesus entered this dark world that we live in. We were born in darkness, without the light of Christ living in us. The disciples heard the truth, they saw the Light, touched him, ate with him and listened to His Light. But they were in darkness, devoid of understanding without the Spirit of God living in them. While Jesus was with them, they were kept safe and being tutored until faith could be revealed in them. Later, when Jesus spoke of the promised Holy Spirit to come, on that day of Pentecost, they received the Spirit of God, the Light to live within them. Then, through the Holy Spirit living in them, all the things Jesus spoke to them was brought to their remembrance and they understood the meaning of Jesus words.

Jesus was sharing spiritual truth with them, that he is the life they need to live forever. We came into this world with nothing and we will leave this world with nothing. We came into this world born spiritually dead and if we die in that state, we certainly have nothing but weeping and gnashing of teeth, where the worm never dies and the fire never goes out. The Spirit gives life and the flesh counts for nothing. So why spend all your energy focused on physically things that are here today and gone tomorrow.
