Jesus Redeemed Us

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Finality of The Cross P22 (09-27-21)

Understanding Forgiveness in Light of the Full Gospel, in Light of What God Accomplished in Christ for Us, to Live Under a New Covenant of Grace, as a Complete Person, with the Spirit of God Living in Us

Join Bob George as he teaches about the grace of God.

How many times do we see people stream down the aisles in order to receive Christ where their only understanding was I am going to come down to keep from going to hell? Then you leave that experience like you would on the day of atonement feeling good, but then the big question comes. What happens when I sin tomorrow or on the way back to the pew? I went forward and got my sins forgiven, but I just sinned on the way back to the pew. Then there is someone who will quote 1 John 1:9 as necessary to stay in fellowship with God, that you must ask God to forgive you when you sin. In other words, you just negated what you did at the altar. The reason for that is because we are looking … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

The Truth of 1 John 1:9

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Finality of The Cross P21 (09-22-21)

The Bigger Picture of the Cross: In Him, We Have Redemption, the Forgiveness of Sins, and Eternal Life

Why is it that certain passages of scriptures are interpreted incorrectly? Passages like 1 John 1:9 are one of those passages.

1 John 1:9
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

It seems people will have tunnel vision on one passage and ignore all the rest of the passages where truth is clearly understood in light of the bigger picture of what Jesus accomplished. We are nit-picking a verse instead of seeing that the event of the cross took care of the interpretation of that verse, if you will let it.

As we recall that Jesus fulfilled the law because we could not do it, then died on a cross to pay the price of death for the sins of the entire world, a death no other man could pay, and then rose again, to offer us new life, called eternal life, that there is no way we could ever achieve. Only … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Knowing the Finality of the Cross and Being Made Complete in Christ Exposes the Common Errors Taught in Christendom Still Today

Preachers can be quite persuasive with illustrations that sure makes something sound so believable and true. They may not be doing this deliberately trying to deceive the people, but they are passing along error of what has been taught to them. They could be well-meaning and sincere, but nevertheless what they are teaching is error. So it is important that we grow in discernment by checking out whatever anyone says by studying the word of God ourselves, relying on the Holy Spirit, who lives in us, to teach us the meaning.

A common example of wrongful teaching is on this area of forgiveness, making a distinction between judicial forgiveness, that which Jesus’ death takes away, and then those parental sins that we must still confess to get back in fellowship with God on. The typical illustration used is expressed like this: “If my son goes out and does something wrong, they need to come and ask me to forgive, so surely that is the way … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

It is Finished on the Cross

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Finality of The Cross P19 (09-20-21)

By the Spirit, Study the Word to Know the Truth About Forgiveness and Salvation

There is a lot of misunderstanding of the finality of the cross in the world of Christendom today. When you know the truth from the Word of God, then whatever error is out there can easily be spotted. When Jesus said, “It is finished” when dying on a cross, what did He mean?

John 19:30
30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

31 Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jewish leaders did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down.

What is finished? What was accomplished when Jesus died on a cross? And, was His death all that was necessary for man to be saved? To be saved means to be saved from death by being made alive in Christ. Death is an eternal separation from God. … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus Reconciled us to God

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Finality of The Cross P18 (09-15-21)

God so Loved that He Sent Jesus Who Willingly Died for Us so We May Live. What Love is This?

Can we comprehend God’s love for us? Here we are as stupid and arrogant as ever, and yet God Himself, in the person of Jesus Christ, comes to dwell with us. We tend to be so self focused, going our own way, but here is Jesus, asking us questions, reaching out to us, who are as dead to Him as the next guy. So what does He say to us that we should want to be with Him? What does He do that reveals to us what is lacking in ourselves, yet He loves and accepts us? What is that encounter we have when we realize how wretched we are, yet He says I already took care of your sin, and then He says, “I did this for you so you can have the life you really wanted to live but you never could.” How you ask? He says, “I will put my Spirit in you, and that Spirit will produce the love, joy, peace, patience, … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Faith is Standing in Truth of Forgiveness

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Finality of The Cross P17 (09-14-21)

God Dealt with Sin. Jesus said, “It is Finished”, and Conquered Death, so You can Receive Him by Faith. So Walk in Freedom, Now that You are Free.

Have you ever been presented with the gospel as coming forward to get your sins forgiven? That is not the gospel. Forgiveness of sins was provided 2000 years ago at a cross, and is what the godhead had decided beforehand that must be done in order for salvation to be given. For salvation is the receiving of new life. If the cause of our death, which is sin, was not solved first, then life could not be given, and as the apostle Paul said, if Christ was not raised we are still dead in our sins (1 Corinthians 15).

1 Corinthians 15:16-17
16 For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still dead in your sins.

So Jesus death on a cross was a necessary preparation for life to be given. So there are two problems, sin, which … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
