Choose Jesus For Life

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P61 (03-30-20)

Synopsis

We are in the book of Romans where Paul said he was going to Jerusalem. Paul was determined to finish the race God had set out for him. He would not be hindered or set off course by the warnings of men in regards to danger and his safety. Whatever God has called him to say and do or where to go, that is what he will do and go. Do we have that same resolve, of single-minded focus on Christ, on our real purpose on this earth God has called us to, knowing that this life on earth is temporary. Do people realize that they will all die one day, and we will either wake up in the presence of God, living with Him forever, or live eternally separated from God in a place called hell?

Listen along as Bob George retells what has transpired in Paul’s decision to go Jerusalem, highlighting the attitude of his heart, that to live is Christ and to die is gain. Follow along in Romans 15, and also the end of Acts 20, providing more detail. Acts 21 also provides more detail of his … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Be Grace Sanctified

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P60 (03-25-20)

Synopsis

As believers, we are being sanctified even as we are sanctified. Sanctified means that you are set apart for the purpose God created you. God made you into a new creation, a child of God, with His Spirit living in you. We have the mind of Christ so in our thinking we are to think differently than the world, who knows not God nor has the Spirit. So we are already sanctified. We are to walk by faith in accordance with who you are, a child of God.

God also wants us to grow, to allow ourselves to become sanctified in this world we live in. God wants to renew your mind so you live in accordance with His good purposes for you. So we are to think soberly and guard our minds.

Romans 12:1-2
1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able

Jesus is The Grace of God

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P59 (03-24-20)

Synopsis

We have much to be grateful for, for Jesus, the Jew, the born again Jew, and to the apostle Paul, a Jew, through whom we came to know the truth of the gospel and how to live in the new life God has given us. Paul provided much instruction to the believers in Christ so they may grow to maturity. He not only delighted in sharing the gospel with them, but his life with them as well.

Recall in Romans 8 how he shared about the proper functioning of the body of Christ, each individual with unique spiritual gifts from God, so the body may be encouraged and learn from each other, so they too may learn how to operate in that gift even if they were not specifically given that spiritual gift. It truly is more blessed to give than to receive.

So Paul delighted in being with other believers, and his heart attitude was so that we may be mutually encouraged by one another’s faith. He was not a lone ranger Christian. He asked for prayer, that he may boldly proclaim the gospel as clearly as he ought. He … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus is True Righteousness

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P58 (03-23-20)

Synopsis

We are in Romans 15. Bob George provides further background information in our study of Romans. He discusses how Jesus was a Jew, and so were all the apostles and prophets He raised up to bring he message of good news, the gospel, to all mankind. Just as today, you have religion in conflict or in contradiction to a real genuine relationship with the living God, through Jesus Christ, who is God in the flesh. You had orthodox Jews and you had the conservative Jew, and you had the born again Jew. So too today. You have the religious people, the secular people, and the born again people, who came out from among all nations, peoples, and tongues. The gospel went to the Jew first, and then to the Gentile. That is why the Jew has a special place in the heart of a born again Gentile. It was through the apostle Paul, a Jew, that we have the scriptures in our own language today, so we might know God and His Son Jesus Christ, and come to know we have eternal life. With eternal life, we are made into a … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Forgive Others as Jesus Forgave You

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P57 (03-18-20)

Synopsis

God has come to live in us to will and to act according to His good purposes. When we insult a brother in Christ, we are really insulting Christ for whom Jesus died and rose again. He is a member of the body of Christ. Does it make sense to hurt your own body? No. So let us learn to encourage one another and do things that lead to peace and mutual edification. So God lives in us to form new attitudes of the heart. God deals with those things inside the heart that no one sees. Those wrong attitudes, if not corrected, is what leads to those outward actions that hurt one another.

God is our counselor. He is our teacher, our instructor. He renews our minds with truth. Truth is what displaces error, and if you have a critical spirit, then your mind needs to be renewed with truth. Do you not know you are a member of the body of Christ, and you are a part of the body? So why criticize the body? Why steal from your own body? Serve your body, and take care of your … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
