The Holy Spirit Will Lead You in All Truth

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P6 (04-29-20)

Synopsis

Do people really understand what faith is? Is faith something you concentrate on for God to do something, that you could cause God to act? No, that would put you in the position of the initiator. We were born dead, and now as a born again believer, apart from Him we can do nothing. We are responders. We respond to what he has already done, and in what he has said and has already given. You have been given everything you need for life and godliness. That does not mean you live in independent from God.

2 Peter 1:3
3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

Adam chose to live independently of God, and that is how sin and death entered the world, and so all men died. Now, as a child of God, a new creation, we learn to walk in dependency upon someone who loves us perfectly, in the one who created us and knows how we were meant to function, with the … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Faith Hope and Love in Jesus

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P5 (04-28-20)

Synopsis

I heard on social media, where a person asked these sincere and honest questions. “I am often uncertain about what to say, when the great commission comes up in conversation. Do we all do street preaching? I hardly ever do that. (Been sometime since the last, a year! ) Is one to one witness whenever I can, enough? Is trying to show what Jesus preached in how I live, not part of it? Are we all missionaries? I was sent to mainland China but again, that was long ago. I do feel inadequate, at times. So when we talk of the great commission – what do you actually do?”

As I was thinking how to answer his questions, this is what God put on my heart to write. I think of this faith, hope and love that are ours in Christ Jesus, as God initiated that love to us first in Christ Jesus, whom he sent to this world so we might visually see what a person filled with the Holy Spirit looks like. That way when I see His righteousness in light of my own … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus is The Light of Life

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P4 (04-27-20)

Synopsis

Turn to 1 Thessalonians 5:4-11, Ephesians 6, and Galatians 5:5-6. We are going to learn more about this faith, hope and love. We will see this connection of faith to putting on the full armor of God in Ephesians 6, so we can stand against the powers of darkness, of evil forces, in heavenly places. Much of what the apostle Paul lists is defensive armor, which we put on so we can stand, the breastplate of righteousness, the helmet of salvation, the feet shodded with the gospel of peace, and other spiritual truth Paul illustrates with the armor on a Roman soldier.

Since as children of God, we are no longer in darkness, and can see more clearly, not with physical eyes, but with spiritual eyes, and in truth. For the Holy Spirit is living in us, guiding us into all truth. Truth is what we stand on, the very words that proceed from the mouth of God. The truth revealed to us through the scriptures we hold in our hands is powerful to take down strongholds. So, the word of God is the sword of … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Having Faith Hope and Love

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P3 (04-22-20)

Synopsis

This faith, hope and love is the triplicate that sticks together like the Father, Son and Holy Spirit of the Trinity. Indeed, Christ Jesus is our only hope, who initiated this love to us so that we can enter this blessed hope in which we now stand. We enter in by faith. The same faith that we exercise so that Christ Jesus came to dwell in us by His Spirit is the same faith in which we live day to day. Christ in you is your only hope of glory. That same faith that you had exercised to be transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light is the same faith God wants us to exercise every day. Several passages of scripture makes this clear. Colossians 2:6-7 and Philippians 2:12-13 are examples. Faith in Him produces His work in and through you and me. We, as a branch, are bearing the fruit of that life, but we, as a branch, have a function in that life. It is to be available for the work of the Lord that has been worked in us … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Faith is a Responder to the Grace of God

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P2 (04-21-20)

Synopsis

So these three remain; faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love. Although we cannot produce love, in Christ we have been given the privilege to participate in the divine nature. We participate in the divine nature by abiding in Christ, trusting him to do through us what we could never do, as Jesus explained to us in John 15. So this love is to reach out to people, to share the message of Christ, to serve in the spiritual gifts God has given us, to serve the body, to give a cup of water in the name of Christ, and any of those things God has led us to do by the Spirit He has given us.

We have been made a new creation in Christ, so this labor is prompted by the love of God that has been poured into our hearts, imploring every man to be made complete in Christ. We have this hope in us, this promise of God, that when we are absent from the body, we are present with the Lord. This life is temporary, so our … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P1 (04-20-20)

Synopsis

Listen as Bob George shares a message on faith, hope and love. Have you ever noticed that whenever you read about love, you will see it together with faith and hope. Just like the Trinity, Father, Son and holy Spirit, it is there as a triplicate. What comes to mind when you think about love? Is it something we can produce in the energy of our flesh? No. Why do you suppose faith and hope in Christ Jesus is so vital to even love one another as Christ loved you? We love because He first loved us.

God is the initiator. We are the responder. He initiated His love to us when He sent His Son to do something for us that we could not even do for ourselves. We were born spiritually dead, without hope and without the love of God in our hearts. Have you ever noticed that a dead person cannot raise himself from the dead? That is how we were born. How then are we to respond?

Did you know that sin is what caused our death? As long as we are … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
