Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Jesus Christ P39 (01-20-21)
There is no more important subject in the world than the resurrection of Christ. The resurrection of Jesus Christ has come under the most scrutiny of men from the New Testament times to this present day. You have legal minds who have studied the evidence. You have historians who have studied facts and the testimonies of those who recorded the event. Then numerous people have recorded the relevance of the resurrection. It is totally an established historical fact.
Numerous men throughout history have been martyred for a cause, some for their religious belief, a lie, and others for the truth, but in either case, none of them raised themselves to new life. Only Jesus willingly laid down His life, only to raise it up again, and as He said, that command He received from His Father. That is what separates Jesus from any other man in history.
You most certainly have heard about the resurrection, not denying it as a historical event, but have you understood the true meaning of the resurrection as it pertains to you personally? We hear quite often the death of Jesus on a … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

A topic that often comes up is praying for healing, as we hear about these so-called healing ministries. As difficult as it is to see a loved one paralyzed or maimed, it is still not our place to heal at will. God is the one in authority over all things, and He also did not heal everyone. For example, He did not heal those in his hometown and marveled at their lack of faith. Then there is this faulty idea that if I had enough faith then this or that person would be healed. That is so damaging, this teaching, causing people so much heartbreak and pain.
There is this improper emphasis on my faith, or on me, to do something. But faith is in the person of Jesus Christ. This faith is expressed through a child of God, in a dynamic, relational faith in Christ, through someone who knows God and is operating on the basis of what is true. This faith is a trust in the will of he Father just as Jesus had.

The older you get, you will experience the death of someone you love, of a mother or father or a close friend. Or you may be experiencing a very difficult situation where a close friend is sick, or is in a critical accident, and is unconscious. You call on others to pray with you. Now, do we pray in accordance with God’s will or do we expect God to answer whatever we pray? Do we falsely think that since God lives in me, and He healed people, that, therefore, we can ask anything in His name and He will do it? In other words, am I telling God what to do so that He must respond to me, or am I listening to the voice of God and responding to what He has intended me to do or say?
Do we keep looking for a sign and a wonder but never come to faith in Christ, looking for only those things of this world, that are temporary and do not last? Do we look beyond the physical miracle and see that the greater miracle is when someone comes … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Scripture instructs us to test ourselves to see if we are in the faith. What is the attitude of our hearts? God came to reveal to us the attitude of our hearts, the condition of our soul. He did this so we might see our utter wretchedness and seek a Savior in Jesus Christ, that we might receive His righteousness, for we never had any of our own.
But what is our tendency in our humanity? Instead of looking at our sins in light of perfect righteousness, we compare ourselves with others saying, “I am not as bad as that woman over there.” As the apostle Paul says, he who compares himself with others is not wise. So we need to ask ourselves probing questions. For example, looking at the definition of love in 1 Corinthians 13, of who God is, since God is love, how well are you doing in the love department? If God, who is love, is alive living in you, then what kind of nature should be observed coming out of you? So, the types of questions to be asked are: “Is God alive … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Who is Jesus Christ, and by knowing that, what does that mean to me personally? That is the question of the century. Certainly he is a man of history, someone who walked on this earth, as even our calendars are divided into B.C. and A.D. There were prophecies recorded down in the scriptures that predicted what would the promised Messiah would do, as spoken by the prophets.
Then we read about the eyewitnesses of Jesus Christ, while he was on this earth, and he fulfilled every one of those prophecies. Then we had the testimony of Jesus’ interaction with Mary Magdalene, his mother Mary, his disciples and the afflicted, who recognized who he is and bowed down and worshiped him. He healed the sick, made the blind see, walked on water, calmed the storms by His word, spoke words no man has ever heard, penetrating the hearts of men, exposing their inner heart to them, yet extending mercy and grace, being full of grace and truth. Ultimately he died on a cross and rose again, just as the prophets said would happen. Many did not believe, did not … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
