You Must be Born Again

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 11 (04-23-19)

Bob resumes the study of the gospel of John. He is currently teaching from John 3 where Nicodemus meets Jesus at night and Jesus explains to him what it means to be born again of the Spirit of God. This is one of the most important chapters because it teaches us how to enter a brand new relationship with Christ Jesus. We not only come to him to be our Lord and Savior but also to be our teacher.

Bob shares again how man is already dead in sin, born in the nature of Adam. Man cannot give spiritual life to man because he does not have spiritual life in himself. But a man was sent from heaven to explain heavenly things to man. God sent Jesus to redeem man from the consequences of sin, which is death. Satan deceived man and man chose to believe the lie. Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy but God sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, not to condemn the world, but to save man through him. Man was condemned already. Man is dead and in need of life.

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 10 (04-22-19)

Bob resumes the study of the gospel of John. Bob interviewed with Jim Armstrong when he was graduating from college. They made an offer and Bob accepted their offer to be trained by them. He was not trained by Ford Motor company but by Jim Armstrong. There was an agreement to be trained by them. Bob came to be trained by them. The same thing is true with Jesus. You and I, born again in Christ Jesus, have come to be trained and equipped by Jesus to have our minds renewed and for Jesus to be our source of everything we do. You and I have come to be trained.

Most of the questions were to get clarification of truth on some commonly misunderstood passages of scripture. Laurie asked, “Where do you place Melchizedek in Hebrews 6:16?” Oftentimes by simply reading the verses before and after a scripture that is unclear to you, you can discern what is important to understand in a passage. We often want to focus on a very narrow point rather than get the spiritual truth that Jesus wants you to know. Bob emphasized that Hebrews is about explaining the superiority of Jesus Christ. To the Jew, there is no one greater than Abraham. Hebrews clears this matter up by explaining that Melchizedek is greater than Abraham and Jesus s greater than everyone.

Edwin asked a very common question, typical of those who are new believers or those improperly instructed from religious teaching. He asked what is the difference between baptism of water and baptism of the Holy Spirit. By studying the scriptures the answer is very clear. Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 4 (04-08-19)

Bob George continues teaching from the book of John. He briefly shares from the gospel of Matthew to provide further information. John the Baptist came with an appeal to men to change your mind. So too is the same appeal for the hearts of men today concerning truth in regards to what you have been trusting for salvation. Are you depending on anything you can do to be in the presence of God? Then change your mind. All of Jesus and none of me. This is a personal decision between you and God. Do you believe what the bible says as revealed by Jesus Christ, the word of God? What does He want you to believe? Truth.

John 14:6
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

You cannot say you are a believer in Christ and still go to a priest. You cannot say you are a believer in Christ and rededicate your life and commit to keeping short accounts with God. Baptism and the Lords Supper

Bob George answers the common questions asked by people wanting to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Several callers asked about baptism. What is the difference between water baptism and the baptism of the Holy Spirit? Bob explained that the baptism that saves is faith in the resurrection in Jesus Christ. He explains how water baptism is a symbol of what happened when someone is born again spiritually and placed into the body of Christ. Water baptism does not place you in the body of Christ. Churches might teach that water baptism places you in their local body, but water baptism can take place anywhere and is a public testimony of someone’s spiritual birth, a visual picture of what Christ alone did for him. You go under the water identifying with Christ’s death and come out of the water symbolizing that you are made into a new creation in Christ. In water baptism, you are testifying as being a part of the body of Christ, by spiritual baptism, having put your faith in what Christ alone has done for you in His resurrection.
