Synopsis

Listen as people call to get answers to their questions. Every now and then, you have a caller who asks, “What must I do to be saved?” or says “I am having doubts about my salvation.” Many people have doubts about their salvation for any number of reasons. And wherever you are right now, we all start out the same way, without the Spirit of God living in you. That is we are born dead spiritually and are in need of new life.

When you are reading the gospels, you are reading a record of the life of Christ while he was here on earth. What was his destiny? He came to die on the cross and give you and me eternal life in Himself. In order to do that, He had to prepare us and show us what our condition was. He had to show us we are sinners. If we do not see ourselves as sinners, what would the cross mean to me? He had to show us we are dead. If I did not know I was dead, why would I need life? Synopsis

As we read in Philippians, concerning the attitude in Christ Jesus, there are three basic attitudes that God wants to form in us, the attitudes of servitude, humility and dependency on the Father. When we come to Christ by faith in his death, burial and resurrection for us, we are on the starting line, where for the very first time the Spirit of God is placed in us. The mind of Christ is what we now have, to discern the things of God.

We need the mind of Christ so that our minds can be renewed with truth to replace the error of the world, the philosophies and the thinking of the world that has kept us in bondage and is contrary to the life God has given us. We are instructed to renew our minds with the new mind God has freely given us, to be able to walk in the new life. We have this option to participate in the divine nature. We are to have this attitude that if not for the grace of God, there go I.

Synopsis

We are to walk by faith in truth. We are to walk by faith in Christ, who gave his life for you so he could give his life to you so he could live his life in you and through you. Indeed, it is by faith in what Christ alone has done, by his death, burial and resurrection that we have become a child of God. As a child of God you have been given the choice to walk in the newness of life, to choose to participate in the divine nature, who lives in you. As a child of God, Christ lives in you. Everything that is a characteristic of God; compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience, is in you. You do not have to go get compassion or pray for patience. You already have all of that, who is Christ Jesus, living in you. You access Him. He is already there, in you. You clothe yourself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. You put it on.

Synopsis

We will always be learning how to trust in the love of God. As we allow ourselves to get to know God better through His word, error in our heads will be replaced with truth. So as we rely on, abide in Christ, the life of the vine, who is Christ, will produce in us and through us the fruit of the Spirit; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Like a branch, we cannot produce such fruit, but we can bear fruit, as we remain connected to the head, who is Christ. You are the church, you who are in Christ Jesus.

The Spirit testifies with our human spirit that we are children of God, by which we cry “Abba, or Daddy, Father.” That is our true identity, a child of God, not Baptist, or Presbyterian, or whatever label you put on yourself. Those are not identities God gave. Those are identities men give. Denominations may be teaching truth or they may be teaching error. How do you know? This gospel of God’s grace, of Christ in you and you in Christ, your only hope, is nothing new. It has been preached by the apostles, and by men from generations past. Bob happened to find a book written by a missionary to India around 1929, that his wife Amy found, where the same truth he has been preaching has been preached. It is so encouraging to hear. God raises up men to proclaim truth, teachers na evangelists and missionaries, so that people may know God and His Son, Jesus Christ, to know eternal life.

When the apostle Paul says that Christ is your only hope of glory, what does he mean? When he is saying Christ is our only hope of glory, he is saying there is no hope for you. Now let us look at this wonderful hope we have. If you ever had to sell your car or house, you want to do so to get a good deal, to exchange something of value, such as a car, that someone else deems valuable. You want the money you receive in exchange for selling your car as more valuable to you than the car. That is a good deal. Now, in Christ, we have an incredibly good deal! We exchanged a few brief years on this earth, allowing Christ to live his life in and through us, and in exchange we will one day be present with the Lord with a new glorious body that never gets old and never dies, and is no longer in the presence of sin, nor will ever experience sorrow, sickness or pain again, and we will forever be with the Lord for eternity. That is a great deal! That is the marvelous hope we have in Christ Jesus. We know this hope is going to happen because the Lord told us in His word that it will happen.
