Bob George continues teaching from the book of Ephesians concerning a mystery that the Gentile is saved the same way as the HEBREW, by faith in Jesus Christ. God planned before the creation of the world that in Him we were chosen to be made holy and blameless. Jesus Christ is the object of our faith. Sin entered the world through one man, Adam, and death through sin, so death came to all men because all sinned.

Romans 5:12
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned

Sin, the cause of death, had to be solved for man to have new life, to be made holy and blameless. Only God is perfectly holy and blameless.

Psalm 99:5
Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy.

So what man needs is the very life of God. The problem of sin was solved by the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Now, man is free to come to Jesus Christ for life. Amazingly, man must simply believe in what Jesus said he came to do and has now been accomplished. Jesus came to save mankind from his sins and man must simply believe in what God said he came to do and did. From reading the account from Luke, what can we learn about simple faith, comparing and contrasting the response of Zechariah to an angel’s announcement of the birth of John the Baptist with the response of Mary to an angel’s announcement of the birth of Jesus Christ?
