Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 64 (08-27-19)

Synopsis

Follow along in the 13th chapter of John, as Jesus is soon going to be arrested and ultimately go to the cross and then to the victory of the resurrection. This is the time of Jesus in his last days. He is going to teach the most important elements of his entire ministry. If you or I knew we had only a few weeks left to live, we would probably give the most important instructions to the ones we love. So it is with Jesus.

Jesus is in a rented room, having the last meal he would ever have on earth with his disciples. He, being the creator of all things, God in the flesh, stoops down and washes the disciples feet. This was done in an attitude of service, showing great humility. Peter, of course, spoke up, as he usually does, not understanding why Jesus was doing such a thing.

Salvation is Not Getting Sins Forgiven

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 63 (08-26-19)

Synopsis

Salvation is not about how sinful we are but how dead we are. Often times, all you hear from the pulpit is how sinful you are. Yes, sin is the cause of death, but death is worse than sin. But what you often erroneously hear is to come down an altar to get your sins forgiven. Well, I got news for you. Salvation is not getting your sins forgiven, but getting new life, God’s life.

Why is salvation not getting your sins forgiven? Well, that is the preparation part of it. Jesus already died to take away the sins of the entire world. His shed blood was once and for all, never to be repeated again, and was all sufficient to take away God’s wrath against all sin, sins from all eternity, past and future, for all men! So if getting sins forgiven is salvation, then everybody is saved already, and that would be called universal salvation. But that is not salvation that saves. Salvation is receiving new life.

Your Identity in Christ Jesus

Synopsis

The first caller, Anne, wanted to thank Bob for how he encouraged the previous caller, a man who was dying from cancer, to not make decisions based on fear and not to let the doctors or medical staff put fear in you. She had asked Bob if people should at least go more to the Lord instead of the medical profession or even pastors?

Bob and Anne both shared from personal experiences how much fear hospital staff and doctors put in you if you let them. Doctors will insist that if you do not do this or that procedure that you will have these consequences, that if you do not have open heart surgery that you will go into cardiac arrest. Te main point is that you do not let them drive your decision-making based on fear. You lean on the Lord for wisdom and understanding for the decisions you make.

Bob was in agreement with Anne on this matter. Both Anne and Bob shared much heart-breaking experiences of friends or relatives with cancer. A man dies much sooner than expected, and that even from something next to nothing, or a man suffers greater loss of quality of life by following the doctor’s advice, who often expresses the situation with fear, than if he just let the disease takes it course.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

God is Not Counting Your Sins Against You

Synopsis

The first caller, Hans, with understandably great emotion with weighty decisions to make. He shared that he is dying of melanoma cancer that has invaded much of his body already, including his brain. He had concerns about losing a relationship with God because of potential damage to his brain. Bob assured him that his relationship with God will always be there. You will never cease to be a child of God. You might not be able to pray to Him, but you are in His hands. He was also wanting advice on further treatments to take. Bob could not answer that for him, but for him to ask God for wisdom. God gives wisdom to all who ask without partiality. But he offered what he personally would want to know. If the cancer has invaded most of his body and that no amount of treatment will get rid of it, then the decision, to Bob, would be one of quality of life versus quantity of life. He would personally refuse continued treatment, if he had definitive information from the doctor on the matter. Jesus Gives us His Thoughts

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 57 (08-12-19)

Synopsis

We have been born dead with an opportunity to choose life. So man’s most basic need is that he is dead and in need of life. But people do not understand these things unless someone explains things to them. The Holy Spirit must reveal truth to men. Many people not only lean on their own understanding for truth, but are ignorant of the things of God. Bob testified that he had a shallow understanding of God. But God initiates His love toward us. He did so when He sent His only Son into the world to reveal truth to men, to die to take away our sins only in order to rise again to offer new life, His resurrected life, the only life available to man. God orchestrates the affairs of men so that they might seek Him and find Him even though He is not very far from any one of us.

One day truth is told. Either we read from the scriptures and God reveals truth to us or someone explains the scriptures to us from what the Holy Spirit had taught them. Jesus Gives Life to the Dead

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 56 (08-07-19)

Synopsis

The disciples are with Jesus for three years but not understanding these things that Jesus had come to do. How could they? They did not have the Holy Spirit living in them. We do not naturally understand these things. We can be in church all our lives. We can hear about Jesus birth, his death, and that he died and was raised from the dead yet we ourselves can still be dead to the things of God. We could still be spiritually dead. Do you know your condition of spiritual death? Do you know that Jesus is God? Do you know He wants to live inside you by His spirit? Do you now what his death did for you personally? Do yo know why he rose from the dead for you? Do you know why he went back to His Father in heaven? Do you know he did these things in order to give life to you so you can live a new way?
