Salvation is Life to the Dead

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P507 (01-30-20)

Synopsis

So many people have been raised in some religion denomination, whether Judaism, Catholic or Baptist, and think they are saved by believing what they have been taught. The problem is that what they have been taught is words of men based on tradition. They do not understand what salvation is. They think salvation is getting sins forgiven. That is only a half gospel, and that is not even fully understood. A Jew goes back to the day of atonement, the shedding of the blood of a bull or goat, to get their sins forgiven. The Catholic goes to the confessional booth to confess his sins before a priest to get his sins forgiven. The Baptist or Protestant goes direct to God, quoting 1 John 1:9, keeping short accounts with God, to get his sins forgiven. But none of those things takes away sin. Indeed only the atonement was even recognized, under a temporary Old Covenant system, to cover sin. But even that was set aside by a New Covenant system when Jesus shed his blood on a cross.

In all theses cases, they do not understand the purpose of the … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Believe God is Not Counting Your Sins Against You

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P493 (11-21-19)

Synopsis

We struggle with grasping the depth of God’s unconditional love and acceptance. When we make bad choices, that is, we sin against God and one another, what is our response to that? Do we hide in fear? For those in Christ Jesus, God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. He who fears is not made perfect in love. Do we think God is angry at us? Do we have this expectation of raging fire, being turned aside by God, that we have fallen away and cast aside by God? No, God has promised to never leave us or forsake us. He sealed His Holy Spirit in us. No one can snatch you out of My Father’s hands.

It seems our natural inclination is to withdraw in isolation or even make the problem worse, adding sin upon sin. Yet God says, come boldly to the throne of grace for help in time of need. We forget the wisdom of Proverbs that says that he who confesses and forsakes his sin will find compassion and mercy. Love covers over a multitude of … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Present With The Lord

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P482 (10-16-19)

Synopsis

What is so hard to take is when someone you love dies. Also in the world today, events are unfolding in Israel and there seems to be an increasing frequency of floods and earthquakes. The callers today asked these kinds of questions: What about my loved ones that have died before me? Will I ever see them again? If they are born again, will they get their new glorified bodies at the rapture or immediately when they die? Are we in the end times? How should I be prepared for death or end time events?

Callers also asked questions for clarity on understanding a passage of scripture. One caller asked, “Who wrote the book of Hebrews?” Another caller asked, in regards to John 14:1, “who do we pray to, Jesus or God?” In regards to Matthew 12:43-46, another caller was wondering about casting out demons today, like people that say they do exorcisms?

Jesus Said It Is Finished

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P473 (9-13-19)

Synopsis

Logan from New Orleans, LA

Logan: I have a question about Hebrews 6. I understand you cannot lose salvation but when I read this I do not understand.

Hebrews 6:4-6
4 It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age 6 and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.

Bob: This is talking to the very people who think they can lose salvation. Hebrew 10 is dealing with this issue. The book was written to Hebrews. How do the Hebrews get their sins forgiven prior to Christ? The day of atonement. They sacrifice animals. They went back to the day of atonement to get their sins forgiven. Once Christ took away the sins of the entire world when he went to the cross, do you still go back to the day of atonement to get sins … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus is the Initiator

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P433 (4-19-19)

Bob George RadioThese callers called in to the original People to People radio program Bob George was on for over 30 years. Most of the questions were to get clarification of truth on some commonly misunderstood passages of scripture. Laurie asked, “Where do you place Melchizedek in Hebrews 6:16?” Oftentimes by simply reading the verses before and after a scripture that is unclear to you, you can discern what is important to understand in a passage. We often want to focus on a very narrow point rather than get the spiritual truth that Jesus wants you to know. Bob emphasized that Hebrews is about explaining the superiority of Jesus Christ. To the Jew, there is no one greater than Abraham. Hebrews clears this matter up by explaining that Melchizedek is greater than Abraham and Jesus s greater than everyone.

Edwin asked a very common question, typical of those who are new believers or those improperly instructed from religious teaching. He asked what is the difference between baptism of water and baptism of the Holy Spirit. By studying the scriptures the answer is very clear. John the Baptist even spoke of two baptisms in … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Thee second caller, Edwin, asked a question about the reason for water baptism and baptism of the Holy Spirit. Bob answers by explaining the meaning of being baptized of the Holy Spirit, and only that baptism saves you. The third caller, Mark, asked a question with his 8 year old daughter on the line, about children and salvation. Bob answered by stating that knowing the nature of God as perfectly loving and justice, then it is not something we need to be concerned about. The next caller Todd, asked a specific question about John 20:23 and about Ananias in the book of Acts dropping dead. Bob answered both questions by looking at the scriptures more closely so as to guide into correct interpretation and not formulating a conclusion that is not stated in the scriptures.
