Do Not Lean on Your Own Understanding

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P503 (01-16-20)

Synopsis

How important it is to study God’s word to know the author of the book, who is God. But who can understand God without the spirit of God living in Him? Nobody. But if you are not born again, having the Spirit of God placed in you, you need to hear His word because faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. And how blessed you will be when you hear someone preach the meaning of it to you, who rightly explains the meaning, as revealed by the Spirit of God, and you believe the message and are born again.

But if you are born again, then in order to grow in grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, you need to study God’s word, in its whole context, while asking the Spirit to reveal the meaning of the word to you. The Spirit is the one who has to reveal the meaning of it to you.

Unfortunately, there are so many who preach or teach, not God’s meaning by relying on the spirit, but relying on their own understanding or repeating what others have said … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Come to Jesus for Life

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P29 (01-14-19)

Synopsis

Recall that in Romans, Paul explains the purpose of the law and explains what God did to bring salvation to fallen mankind. He goes on to explain law and grace. In doing so, he anticipates the common questions that man would ask.

Romans 6:1
1 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?

Romans 6:15 (NASB)
15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be!

Romans 7:7
7 What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful?

Paul answers these questions, explaining the grace of God, the totality of the cross, the resurrection, and how man is made complete in Christ. Still today, there is much confusion on what salvation is. You have numerous denominations out there, and what they could be telling you is true or not true. How would you know?

The Holy Spirit reveals truth to men, and truth is revealed to you through his word. So a lost person cannot discern the things of God because they are spiritually discerned. But the saved person, a person with the Spirit of … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

The Wages of Sin is Death

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P28 (01-13-19)

Synopsis

Continuing on in Romans, Paul explains how the law stirs up sin. He used the example of coveting, because that gets us all. He would not have known what coveting was if the law had not said “do not covet”. But he found that when he tried not to covet, he coveted all the more. He found he could not carry out the law, even though the law is holy, righteous and good. So the problem is not in the law, but in himself. The problem of mankind is sin. In the flesh is sin. The law, which is intended to bring life, actually brought about his death, that he would come to say, “What a wretched man I am”. The purpose of the law is so that you come to the end of the law for righteousness, and in your wretched condition, you turn to the only one who can give you life, the resurrected life of Christ Jesus.

So the law brought about our death. That is, we thought we thought we were okay, basically a good person, until the law told us what sin is, and we found … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus Forgave You - Now Believe it

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P502 (01-10-20)

Synopsis

One common question that gets asked quite often is about how the law of Moses applies to us today. Well, if you are a lost person, then it still applies to you to lead you to Christ, for that is the purpose of the law. The law was added so man might recognize he is a sinner, and then understand his condition of death to God, so that he might to Christ to receive new life. Otherwise, the cross of Christ has no meaning to him. The law of Moses was written on stone and is a ministry of death and condemnation. That is, the law is like a mirror, to tell you what your problem is. Although it was glorious, though fading, it does not compare to the glorious ministry of righteousness that Jesus gives to those who are born again.

For those who have been born again, the law of Moses does not apply. None of it. Not the ten commandments and not the ceremonial laws or any other laws. Why? You are no longer under the law of sin and death, but you are now under grace, … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Purpose of The Law

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P27 (01-08-19)

Synopsis

In Romans, Paul uses several illustrations in explaining truth of living under grace. He uses an illustration of marriage to illustrate that we are to die to the law of sin and death and live to another, Jesus Christ our Lord. So a husband who dies, then the woman he was married to is free to marry another man. She is no longer bound to the law of marriage since her husband has died.

As Paul uses various illustrations, the illustration of master and slaves and the law of marriage, he is explaining truth to people who were so accustomed to living under the law of Moses. They perverted the law and made into a means to obtaining righteousness. The truth he taught went against everything the Jewish world at that time believed to be true. As it was in that day, so it is still today. There is still Jewish orthodoxy under strict legalism, that forbids spitting on the ground on the Sabbath. You even have a Sabbat elevator to prevent work on the Sabbath.

You also have the church world today that puts people under law. You have heard … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
