The Spirit Gives Life

Classic Christianity – Our Attitude Towards Legalism Part 1 (03-25-19)

Bob George, who has been on the air for over 30 years on People to People radio, shares a message about the attitude of Christ toward legalism. As believers, who have the indwelling Holy Spirit, a person with the mind of Christ, what then should our attitude be toward legalism, toward the teaching and teachers of legalism? Legalists teach things of law to keep people under the bondage of law rather than the freedom under grace. You cannot mix law and grace. Under law, there is a punishment associated with law. Without a punishment, the law is worthless. But in Christ, we are no longer under the law but under grace. The punishment of our sins has already been paid in full. God set aside the law through Christ Jesus who fulfilled the entirety of the law. Now, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, God offers new life to men. That life is eternal life, the same Holy Spirit life that is in Christ Jesus. Those who believed the message of God’s grace in Christ Jesus are born again. When you were born again, the Holy Spirit was placed in you.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Emotions - Can You Trust Them

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P424 (3-21-19)

Justin called on behalf of a friend to help him out, for he was is struggling with emotional and spiritual pain. Bob replied by explaining how God designed the mind, will and emotions. Emotions are dumb and only respond to what the mind feeds, whether real or fantasy, and it cannot discern the difference. The key to overcoming emotional pain is to renew the mind. For as the mind is renewed the feelings follow. To have proper feelings then your mind needs to dwell on things that are true. The word of God is true. But in order to understand truth one must be born again of the Spirit. When you are born again and taught of the Spirit you will learn to walk in complete joy and freedom.

Bill asked, “If our nation’s laws are derived from the 10 commandments, how do we not have an ongoing relationship with the law?” Bob explained to Bill what the purpose of the law is. All good and perfect laws that govern men are derived from the nature of God, and can be traced to the 10 commandments, but the problem is that man cannot perfectly carry out he law.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

God Has Forgiven You

Classic Christianity Radio – Heirs of the Promise Part 3 (2-20-19)

Bob shares that the New Covenant is for us today from Hebrews 10. Now that Jesus shed his blood on the cross, taking all the sins of the world away, the HEBREWs take off the old clothes of the Law and put on the new clothes of Christ’s righteousness. The Gentiles, who never had the Law, just put on the new clothes of Christ’s righteousness. For Christ has been raised to new life, and in Him is forgiveness, redemption, holiness, and righteousness. So those who put their trust in Christ’s finished work, they have been made complete in Christ, with His laws written in their hearts by the Holy Spirit. So under the New Covenant of God’s amazing grace, we live in the higher laws to love God and to love our neighbor by the power of the Holy Spirit within us.

In about 14 minutes into the audio, Bob asks some questions. “What is the Christian life? “Can we live the Christian life?” Not in the energy of the flesh! “What then is needed?” Bob shares from God’s word to answer these questions. The Christian life is Christ. Enjoying him, getting to know Him, about His love, provision, kindness, goodness, mercy.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Salvation is Life Eternal

Classic Christianity Radio – Heirs of the Promise Part 2 (2-19-19)

Bob George first repeats a message from yesterday from the book of Ephesians that the believing HEBREWs and Gentiles, together are heirs of the promise of God in Christ Jesus. About 14 minutes into the audio, Bob explains this New Covenant He made with man, both HEBREW and Gentile, from Hebrews 10. Bob begins by asking the question, “This covenant we are under, is that for us?”

Hebrews 10:11-18 (KJV)
11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus Fulfilled The Law And The Prophets

Original date: 10-19-97 – Classic Christianity Part 1 (2-4-19)

Bob George discusses insights on the subject of the law from God’s word. In part one of this three part series, Bob addresses the law of love. Bob explains how Jesus fulfilled all of the entire Old Testament, including the 10 commandments but also all the of the Law, the Pentateuch with all its ceremonial laws also, and the prophets and the psalms. Jesus is God in the flesh and God is love and love is the fulfillment of the law. God poured out His love into our hearts when we were born again, a new spiritual birth where the Holy Spirit was placed in us. So, we are not under the law (singular), as described in the Old Covenant with the Jews, but we are under grace, under new laws of love with only two commands, to love God and to love your neighbor as yourself, and neither of these are listed in the 10 commandments. Bob explains further from the book of Hebrews this contrast between the Law (singular) of the Old Covenant to laws (plural) of the New Covenant. Bob checked the uses of these words and they are indeed not an error in translation.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Your Sins Have Been Forgiven

Classic Christianity – Call-In Bob George P411 (02-01-19)

Welcome to Classic Christianity Radio with Bob George. Let’s now join Bob George as he offers practical biblical insights as he helps people experience faith, hope and love in Jesus.

Bob addressed common questions in the world today. “Can believers marry again after divorce?”, “What did Jesus teach in Matthew?”, “What should we do when we sin as believers?”, and “Have I committed the sin of blasphemy?” are the questions asked by several callers. The callers are asking essentially the same question. “What does it mean to walk by faith?” Bob explains the New Covenant we are living under as believers as a covenant of grace, same as a will or a testament, started when Jesus shed hi blood on the cross. By properly understanding Jesus as being a Jew and and Old Covenant, speaking about the New Covenant in the gospels, one can more easily discern the meaning of scriptures in their proper context. For example, why would Jesus say, “Be perfect as I am perfect?”. I know myself I could never perfectly obey the law. How many of you have gotten angry on the freeway when someone recklessly cut you off?… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
