Synopsis

As the Thanksgiving season is here, consider how much we have been freely given. If you are in Christ, you are free. You are free from the law. You are no longer under the law of sin and death, the law with it’s demands that you could never keep. Sin was your master and owner. In Christ, you are no longer a prisoner of the law. You were once locked up until faith should be revealed. Has faith been revealed to you? Can you now call God your Father because you have become a child of God, a new creation in Christ?

Even before the law was given, sin was in the world. All of us were born dead spiritually. The law was powerless to save you nor could it. We were already weak in our natural selves, being dead already. We keep doing what we know we ought not do and we do not do what we know we should. And when we fail, there is guilt under the law. Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Jesus Christ P18 (11-11-20)

Synopsis

The coming of Jesus Christ into human history on our behalf was not an event that suddenly burst upon an unsuspecting world. It was a culmination of a long line of prophetic statements, starting with the voice of God predicting his coming at the beginning of human history, that we read in Genesis 3. His arrival in human form was an event planned before the creation of the world. We read that in 1 Peter 1:20, and the mission for which he came, as discussed in 2 Corinthians 5:81-21.

A brief summary of the purpose and plan for Jesus coming to this earth can be found in this little booklet, Be Born Free, sharing from the scriptures, the truth of what God had said through Jesus Christ and what Jesus death, burial and resurrection accomplished for you and me.

So let us look at some prophetic events recorded in the scriptures from the prophet Micah and the prophet Isaiah, written over 700 years before the events occurred. Synopsis

As we read the words of Jesus, of what He claimed about Himself, that He is God, and then His disciples saying the same thing, have you concluded that He is God. Now, if you grew up Jewish and you had all the Old Testament scriptures, and the rich heritage of having the words of the prophets passed on to you from previous generations, would you recognize Jesus as the Messiah? Would you have recognized, that after over 300 prophecies as foretold through the prophets of what the promised Messiah would do and say, that certain future events would happen with precise detail, and all of them came true, and if you knew that, would you recognize the Messiah?

How slow we really are to believe. And even with all this information, the Spirit has to reveal truth to us as to who Jesus really is and what He came to do for you and me. Jesus Says Who do You Say I Am

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Jesus Christ P15 (11-04-20)

Synopsis

So concerning this person called Jesus of Nazareth, what have you concluded him to be? Do you think he is a madman, a lunatic, a liar or that he really is who he claimed to be, God in the flesh? What have those who walked on the earth with him, who saw him, touched him and ate with him, have to say? What did they have to say about him? Were they lunatics, liars or impostors too? Or did they believe him to be who he claimed to be, God in the flesh?

And if Jesus really is God in the flesh, then why would he want to come down and live on this rotten earth, with so much sorrow, sickness, pain and death? Why would he subject himself to such things? And why would he put on human flesh? And if He came from heaven, and he said he only says what His Father told him to say and what to say, then what words of God did he say that he wanted us to know? Jesus is God in the Flesh and Forgave Us

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Jesus Christ P14 (11-03-20)

Synopsis

Jesus came to give us understanding of ourselves, that we are dead and in need of life. He showed us what true living is, what man was designed to look when he had the Spirit of God living in him. He did this by living like us, as a man, emptying himself of His divineatrobuutes, so that we, who are not God may know what it looks like. He did so that we might recognize our own righteousness and want His. He did this so that once the holy Spirit is given to men, they too can live in the same way he did. We do not do this imitating His action but by imitating His faith, His total dependence upon His Father. Jesus said He did nothing on His own initiative, but only did what He saw His Father doing and He did what His Father told Him to say and how to say it.

Synopsis

If you have not already, get a copy of A Closer Look at Jesus Christ. We have studied the person of Jesus Christ, Who Did Jesus Christ Claim to Be?, A Madman or God in the Flesh. We read from the scriptures what Jesus claimed about Himself, that He is God. Then the question was asked, Who Do You Say that I Am?. If you have concluded that Jesus is God, and came to offer you eternal life, then an explanation was given of what it means to be Receiving the Offer of Life. Now we are studying What Others Claimed About Jesus Christ. So today we read what John the apostle said concerning Jesus Christ.

In summary, God sent Jesus into this world to save that which is lost. When someone is lost, it is good to know someone is looking for him. The person who is lost is mankind, each and every person born into this world. All of us were born into this world spiritually dead, and in need of new life, God’s life.
