Walking in Our Dependency of Love – Jesus is Love

Matthew called in regards to a question he had about Love in the bible study booklet “A Closer Look at Your Identity in Christ.”

Bob mentions that once we understand the love of God for us, then we begin to have that same love for others. It’s a process though and a renewing of our mind by Him doing it in and through us.

Understanding the Love of God

It’s the love of God,
that results in the dependency upon God,
that then results in the obedience to God.

Romans 8:38,39
³⁸ For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, ³⁹ neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Perfect Love Drives Out All Fear

Do you really love God? People are living in fear today, and those that are living in fear are not really loving God. People think they love God, yet they don’t know the Love of God. They don’t know that God loves them. They are still trying to perform for God so in turn God would do something for them.

When we understand God’s love for us, it changes our world completely. We may understand God’s love for us when we first come to Him for salvation (eternal life), but then we lose sight of it for our daily living. We get on our own performance track, thinking that we’ve got to do something in order for God to do something ongoing with us. We need to learn that is NOT how God deals with us at all. God is love, and His Love lives in us. This is key to our understanding and walking in the love of God.

1 John 4:16-21
¹⁶ And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.

Jesus took away the wrath of God for our sins. He did not atone for sins, He took them away. Propitiation means it was satisfied for the sins of the whole world. It is finished. He loved us so much that He did this for us! He took away ALL OUR SINS! Once we grab a hold of this Truth then we rest in His Love for us. The topic of prayer comes up in conversation with people many times today. People are told to pray this or pray that in corporate settings. Some are even telling people on television or radio to send their money in for their prayers to be heard by God, as though God is going to answer your prayers based on you sending money to someone else. Different groups of people have different ideas about prayer too. Most everyone today is focused on getting their prayer requests answered by God, and not listening to what God has to say to them in the first place. They are becoming their own god, as though they can push God’s buttons to do something based on something they say or do themselves. Bob sets the record straight on all this gobbledygook about prayer.

When You Are In Christ Jesus, You Are A New Creation! A Saint!

Grab a hold of your identity in Christ Jesus. When Jesus makes you a new creation, He makes you a saint. You can never be a sinner again. As Bob tells it, you are a new butterfly, quit believing you are a worm.

John 15:5
⁵ “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

So now, we abide in Christ Jesus. If you have Christ living in you, you are now a brand new person. You are a SAINT. You are no longer a sinner. Understand that you are no longer a sinner. God sees you as a saint. He sees you as a child of God. We need to see ourselves as He sees us!
