The Finality of the Cross

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Finality of The Cross P1 (08-09-21)

Understanding The Framework for Knowing God through Jesus Christ

What does it take to understand God or the meaning of His word? Do you have to know Greek or Hebrew? Do you have to be educated? No, none of that is necessary. Do you have to have a pastor or gifted teacher to explain things to you? No, that is not needed either. That can be helpful if the pastor or teacher rightly divides the word of God and explains things from the word of God. But how would you know if he is telling the truth? One person can persuade you to believe something, and then someone else can then try to persuade you something different. And both could be wrong. How would you know? Turn to 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 and what do we read there that is needed to discern the meaning of the word of God?

To know God requires that you are a child of God, born again from above, having the Holy Spirit, the Spirit full of grace and truth, living in you guiding you into all truth, while you have a heart tuned toward the living Christ.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Faith Says Thank You to Jesus

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P659 (08-06-21)

Grow in Grace by the Spirit of God Revealing Truth to You Through His Word

Sometimes we all just lack confidence in the truth. We may know the truth but because we have listened to so many different preachers, we are somewhat doubtful or confused, because what we are hearing from these preachers is contradicting what we are reading from the scriptures. We have been taught by the Lord, having studied the scriptures on their own for quite some time, and have a good handle on the truth, but sometimes we get off course. We now start questioning what all these preachers are saying. Listen as Bob George explains the basic foundational truth on what salvation is, in regard to faith alone in what Jesus accomplished by His death, burial and resurrection for us, and reminding a female caller of the proper understanding of baptism, which never saves anyone, and encouraging her to continue growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, as she has been doing, and letting her know she is on the right track.

As a reminder to all our listeners, baptism never saved anyone. There are no steps to salvation.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus is The Mediator of the New Covenant

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P30 (08-02-21)

Be Sure to Enter God’s Rest Today!

As we ponder over Hebrews 3 and Hebrews 4, what is this “Sabbath rest that still remains“? What does it mean to “enter God’s rest” and “rest from their works just as God rested from His”? As we read these passages in Hebrews, it is referring back to a time in the history of the Israelites, in Numbers 13-14, where God instructed them to enter the promised land, a land flowing with milk and honey. God had promised this land to them. Everything is prepared and ready. They do not have to do any work to enjoy the fruit of the land. God also said He would destroy the enemies before them.

As we read the story, you may recall that only Joshua and Caleb later entered the promised land because they believed God. Everyone else wandered in a wilderness for forty years until all of that generation died off, for God had sworn that they shall never enter His rest because of their unbelief. Recall their many sins were already atoned for by the temporary sacrificial system in existence at that time.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus Made us Competent Ministers

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P29 (07-28-21)

Growing to Maturity in Christ

What does it mean to mature in Christ? Do we become more holy? Do we sin less? Is it about what we do? Or is it about coming to grasp what God alone accomplished for us, understanding the finality of the cross and letting Christ live His life in you and through you? Certainly it is not about trying to obey the letter of the law, for the law is what put us to death. Certainly we are to sin less, but to stop sinning completely, as if that is the goal of the Christian life, is not possible for us in our sin-indwelling flesh, where the desires of the flesh are in conflict with the desires of the Spirit. We are told in scripture to walk by the Spirit so we will not carry out the desires of the flesh. That is why we are under a New Covenant of grace now. What we could not do in the energy of our flesh, God did for us by who He is, perfect love. What we could never do, God did for us. We still cannot live the Christian life, not in the energy our flesh.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Freed From The Law of Sin and Death

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P28 (07-27-21)

What was Wrong With the Old Covenant?

Since we have a New Covenant that replaced the Old Covenant, what was wrong with the Old Covenant? We read that the law was holy, righteous and good (Romans 7:12), so the problem was not really with the law, or the Old Covenant. The problem is with us, the people. No one can keep the law. As Paul recognized in his own life and described for us in Romans 7, that the things I want to do I do not do and the things I hate to do I do anyways. He once thought he could obey the law and described his life as far as legalistic righteousness is concerned, faultless (Philippians 3:4-6). At one time Paul thought he could keep the law, that in his mind, the law was intended to bring life. He discovered that when the law said, “Do not covet”, instead of not coveting, he coveted all the more.

He came to understand that the power of sin is in the law, that there is something wrong with him. The law put him to death so he died to the law.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus Forgave You Completely of All Sins

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P17 (06-30-21)

Synopsis

The word “brainwashing” is used a lot more today. In regard to the vaccination propaganda, with bribes for free doughnuts, cruises or college tuition, and peer pressure to comply and get the shot, as media continually broadcasts that it is safe and effective. Yet, why would well-renowned doctors, experts in virology, front line doctors, be willing to lose their license and their reputation by telling the truth?

So too with the disciples of Jesus Christ. Why would they lie about the resurrection of Jesus Christ? They saw Him on that waters edge to cast their net to the other side, and to become fishers of men. Why would they be willing to lose everything to tell about Jesus? Why would they be willing to be persecuted and face a martyr’s death for something they thought was a lie? That would not make sense. They believed Jesus is the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Jesus.

Sadly, the Christian world today has been stuck in faulty thinking. It is so much easier to brainwash someone to believe a lie than to unbrainwash someone to come to know the truth that can truly set him free.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
