Forgiveness Does Not Produce Life

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P35 (01-28-19)

Synopsis

So often when people grow up in a church background, error is being taught. There are those teachings that keep us bound under law, by the mixing of law and grace, preventing people from walking freely in the new life God has given to those who have believed. Then there are those teachings that are serious doctrinal error. Many a person has walked down an aisle to receive forgiveness of sins, for that is what they have been taught. So the doctrine of salvation is taught in error.

Salvation is not getting your sins forgiven and that is it. Romans 5:10 and Ephesians 1:7 are key verses that, understood in context, explain this more clearly what Jesus accomplished for us, in what salvation is. When you were His enemies, lost, you were reconciled. How? By his death on a cross. How was what provided for then, at the cross, received? In Him. In Him, you have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Salvation is the receiving the life of Christ Jesus. The cross without the resurrection is meaningless, for the apostle Paul spoke to the Corinthians, that without the resurrection you are … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

The Holy Spirit

Classic Christianity – Thanksgiving Part 1 (11-25-19)

Synopsis

So often people trust the words of their pastor or some person. He could be Calvin or MacArthur or your baptist preacher or your Presbyterian preacher, or your Catholic priest, and you would just trust what they tell you as true. After all, he went to seminary, you think. Or he got trained under 2000 years of church history just like the Jews did, for they had Moses as their teacher. But have you ever stopped to think if what they are saying is true? If you are born again, who is living in you? What did he promised you? That he would guide you into all truth. How do you suppose he is going to do that? If you are born again, did you know that you have the mind of Christ, the ability to discern the things of God and make judgments about all things?

Now, we have the example in scripture where Jesus was led into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan. Satan quoted scripture, but he did it to deceive. Jesus also responded with scripture. He would say, but scripture also says. Now, how important is the … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Salvation is Eternal Life

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P440 (5-16-19)

Bob George sometimes received calls from people who have a general question concerning a scripture that seems out of place and does not make sense in reference to the totality of other scriptures. They call to ask Bob for his understanding. Bob addressed a question by Larry to explain Mark 16:6. Sometimes just common sense can get you through a scripture’s intended meaning. We should not drink poison or drink poison thinking we will not be harmed. Bob also explained how a translation can have a passage that is not in the original manuscripts and to take that into consideration when studying God’s word.

Other times people call just to thank Bob for resources received to share with others so as to grow and be encouraged in the faith. Such was the case with Ted who called thanking Bob for bible study materials he received, such as “Classic Christianity” and “Victory over Depression” that he shared with men he was deployed with in Iraq.

Bob also received calls from others who were listening to false teaching. So often people hear preachers say that salvation is coming to get your sins forgiven. … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Faith Counting on Christ Alone

Classic Christianity Radio (03-11-19) – Created Anew Part 1

Bob George TeachingEphesians 1:15

Bob introduces the topic of being created anew, when someone is born again spiritually. When someone is born again, the Holy Spirit takes residence in you and all things become new. Bob shares from Ephesians 1 and 2 and explains this faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the same faith available to both the Jews and the Gentiles, by which all men are made acceptable to God.

Ephesians 1:15
15 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people

To better explain this concept of both the Jew and Gentile being saved the same way, Bob provides background information on the lifestyle and thinking of the Gentile world in the time period of Paul’s visitation to Ephesus. The Gentile world today is not like what it was like thousands of years ago. Today’s Gentile world is in general still a moral and decent people and quite a contrast to the goddess worship and temple prostitution practiced by those Gentiles in days gone by. Today that moral decency is fading away. But the roots of idolatry, superstition and … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus is Truth

Classic Christianity Radio – Heirs of the Promise Part 1 (2-18-19)

Bob George TeachingBob shares a message from Ephesians that, as Gentiles, together with the Jews we are heirs of the promise. In part 1 on this topic, Bob shares how to properly discern context from reading Ephesians. So often people read one passage and come to false conclusions about election and predestination. Looking closely at transition words like “Therefore” are clues to the theme or purpose of writing. However, punctuation and chapter divisions can be put in the wrong places. Oftentimes people form incorrect doctrines out of the gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, and the book of Acts, which are historical recording of events that happened but are not for forming doctrine. The epistles of Paul, like his letter to Ephesians, contain doctrine, yet even then wrong conclusions are drawn. Read the entire letter over and over again and look for the overall meaning and then let the Holy Spirit teach you. It is not the word that sets you free but the truth of the word, the meaning of the word of God, that sets you free. So Bob reads through the book of Ephesians, interjecting what the meaning … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Growing in Grace

Classic Christianity – Call-In Bob George p409 (01-25-19)

Bob George RadioWelcome to Classic Christianity Radio with Bob George. Let’s now join Bob George as he offers practical biblical insights as he helps people experience faith, hope and love in Jesus.

Proverbs 27:21
The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but people are tested by the praise they receive.

Many callers today called to thank Bob George for explaining truth. Bob responded in such grace and shared how he was in the crucible of testing throughout his ministry. Bob shared with humility and reiterated the main point that truth is what sets us free and error is what binds us, and really not any more complicated than that. Bob admitted where he did not know something and showed a teachable and humble spirit. For he himself, as we all are, are growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. We are all continually being renewed in our minds by the Holy Spirit who lives in us and guides us into all truth, and that will continue until the day we die.

2 Peter 3:18
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. … Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
