Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P501 (01-09-20)

Synopsis

There is nothing that has overtaken you except what is common to man. Depression and addictions of all kinds are common to man. That does not mean everybody will be addicted to alcohol or cocaine, but the root problem is the same. Brokenness and sin manifests itself in people in different ways. No matter what condition you are in, Christ Jesus is who you really need. Are you depressed? What do you think causes depression? It really stems from a thinking problem. You are thinking about the bad things that happened yesterday, or even projecting what life will be like tomorrow, and your feelings naturally follow. At times, such depression will lead to other thinking issues and other areas of addiction, such as alcohol or cocaine. And what do people naturally do? They compare themselves with others, assuming others have it all together. The truth of the matter is, nobody has it all together. Religion also compounds the problem, making demands of you, that you could never meet. That also leads to frustration. Some respond by giving up. Believe Jesus is God
Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P500 (12-20-19)

Synopsis

It cannot be emphasized enough to study the bible on your own, allowing the Holy Spirit to teach you. That is the only way you can be certain that you are hearing truth. It is common among the world today for people to rely on what their favorite teacher says as true, whether it be Bob George, John MacArthur, Calvin or Luther, or whoever you happen to esteem. But, how do you know if they are teaching you correctly? They might be but they might not be. How would you know? Recognize also that cults, such as the Catholics and the Mormons today, the legalists, like the Jews the apostle Paul confronted in Galatia, and the gnostics confronted by the apostle John, will twist scripture in teaching men. So many have been led astray by such teaching. But, if you, who have the Spirit in you, and have grown in discernment, be on guard and recognize error when you hear it. Bear in mind that there are numerous erroneous teaching among various denominations today, the teaching of tithe, a second filling or baptism of the Spirit, and Calvinism, for example, that many have believed simply because that is what their denomination or favorite teacher teaches.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus Took Away Your Sins on The Cross
Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P497 (12-13-19)

Synopsis

Every now and then, someone calls, asking how to be saved. Wayne had been listening to Classic Christianity Radio about the condition of the heart. He knew he was not saved and wanted to be saved. So he asked to call about how he can be saved. Listen as Bob George explains the good news of the gospel. In summary, salvation is being saved from the consequences of sin, which is death, by the gift of God, which is the resurrected life of Christ Jesus. You place your faith in what Christ Jesus alone accomplished for you through his death, burial and resurrection. Knowing you are a sinner, that Jesus took that sin away already, 2000 years ago when he shed his blood on a cross, you recognize your condition of spiritual death. Knowing that, you turn in total faith in Christ’s resurrection to save you, to give you new spiritual life. You receive, believe in the name of Jesus, to save you. You are not saved by the death of Christ, that was preparation, but you are saved by the life of Christ. Another caller, Sean, has been reading his bible, and he is familiar with the book of Romans, but then in the book of James, he reads about where James talks about faith without works is dead.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Know I Am God

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P19 (12-09-19)

Synopsis

The first four books of Romans laid the foundation of the need of all mankind for salvation. Both Jew and Gentile were addressed as both spiritually dead, sinners by nature. Whether under the law or apart from the law, they are both spiritually dead since birth. Sin and death entered the world through one man’s sin, Adam, the first created being.

Now, in chapter 5, Paul is addressing the solution of man’s problem. Man’s problem is greater than sin. His greatest problem is he is spiritually dead. Sin caused his death. So until the problem of sin is taken away, salvation cannot be offered. Now, two fundamental questions need to be understood. What is death? What is salvation?

When Adam chose for himself to decide right from wrong, good and evil, he died. God had told him that the day you decide for yourself that you do not need Me, and choose for yourself right from wrong, good from evil, you shall die. Adam did that and he died. Death is the absence of life. Adam, when he was created, was created with the life of God in him. When Adam sinned, he died.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Victory Over Depression - Book
Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P496 (12-06-19)

Synopsis

As we live in our present bodies, in this sin-indwelling flesh, none of us are beyond falling into old sinful patterns. Yes, we, who are in Christ, live under the grace of God, but we never want to take advantage of God’s grace and live in sin for which Christ has set us free. So Paul addresses the church in Corinth, for the third time now, and is grieved and humbled to go over these same matters again. He provides firm correction, as we read in 1 Corinthians, about a man who has his father’s wife. The Corinthian church was boasting and should be grieved. The church listened to Paul’s instruction, and the man was put out of fellowship with the church, to be handed over to Satan so his flesh will be destroyed. We read in 2 Corinthians that the discipline of the many was sufficient, and the man went out of his way to clear himself of this matter, having true godly sorrow over sin. The church was then instructed to go out of their way to show their love to him so he is not overcome with grief, otherwise he might never recover.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Salvation is Not by Works

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P16 (12-02-19)

Synopsis

From the book of Romans, in the rest of Romans chapter 4, Paul is contrasting law and grace. The law condemns a person as a sinner, but grace sets a person free. Grace is Jesus. He is the only one who could take away the cause of death, which is sin. Having no sin of his own, being God in the flesh, he laid down his life to pay the price of death for sin.

That is what the apostle Paul described as reconciliation. Reconciliation is an accounting term, where a person writes off a debt that is owed. It would be like a man who owed a tremendous amount of money and then went bankrupt. The merchant pays the debt and writes it off the books. That is what Jesus did.

Now to be clear, the cross is how God reconciled the world to himself. That is preparatory for salvation but it is not salvation. If salvation was getting your sins forgiven, then that would be universal salvation. But that is not salvation. Salvation is the receiving of new life.

Jesus did not stay dead, God raised him from the dead.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
