Bear With Each Other in Love

Bob George discusses insights from God’s word. In part one, Bob addressed the laws of love; to love God and to love your neighbor as yourself. Bob explained man’s inability to love, requiring the need to be born again, to be placed into the body of Christ, the true Church, the Ecclesia. In part two of this three part series, Bob addresses the functioning of the church as the people of God, where this love of Christ is to be worked out, so the people of God can grow in maturity to know the fullness of God. Bob explains that the true church is the Ecclesia, the “called out ones”. He explains that the spiritual gifts are people whom God sent to build up the body of Christ, the church. He explains the role of teachers, prophets and apostles in that proper context. In every case, people are to be dependent on the Holy Spirit in them, as a branch on a vine, to do the work of ministry that God has prepared for them to do. Jesus Fulfilled The Law And The Prophets

Bob George discusses insights on the subject of the law from God’s word. In part one of this three part series, Bob addresses the law of love. Bob explains how Jesus fulfilled all of the entire Old Testament, including the 10 commandments but also all the of the Law, the Pentateuch with all its ceremonial laws also, and the prophets and the psalms. Jesus is God in the flesh and God is love and love is the fulfillment of the law. God poured out His love into our hearts when we were born again, a new spiritual birth where the Holy Spirit was placed in us. So, we are not under the law (singular), as described in the Old Covenant with the Jews, but we are under grace, under new laws of love with only two commands, to love God and to love your neighbor as yourself, and neither of these are listed in the 10 commandments. Bob explains further from the book of Hebrews this contrast between the Law (singular) of the Old Covenant to laws (plural) of the New Covenant. Lean Not on Your Own Understanding

Classic Christianity – Encourage By Grace P3 (01-30-19)

Bob George shares from the Word of God to encourage believers by a message of grace. Bob reviews again the things discussed in part two, the humility in Christ Jesus, who being God in the flesh, who in the Spirit who created all there is, yet became obedient to death on a cross for you and me. That attitude of Christ, his humility, is in us as children of God, by the Holy Spirit he has given us. So then, we are to work out what has been worked in us so the fruit of the Spirit is seen as we live in this depraved and wicked world. So we should be known as those who do not argue and complain but rather by those who serve one another in love. So our minds must be renewed so as to realize all that God has freely given. We live in error because we have thinking like that of the world that needs to be transformed into the attitude of Christ.

Do you have any encouragement from being freed from death to life, from His love, being united in fellowship with Him, being united in one spirit and purpose in Him? By leaning not on your own understanding, but living in the grace of God, being led by the Spirit of God, what joy and peace, what newness of life is available to you! So leave behind vain conceit and selfish ambition and develop an attitude of servitude, the same attitude that is in Jesus Christ.

The admonition to believers is to have that same attitude, to work out your salvation with fear and trembling. Classic Christianity – Encourage By Grace P1 (01-28-19)

Bob George shares from the Word of God to encourage believers by a message of grace. In part one of this three part series, Bob addresses the attitudes of faith. Let us begin now with the first four verses in Philippians 2.

By looking at just the first several verses, Bob explains what it means to be in fellowship with God. He further contrasts the Old Covenant under law with the New Covenant under grace, your new spiritual creation and identity in contrast to your inheritance in Adam, the ability to discern the things of God rather than leaning on your own understanding, and your freedom from death to life. Bob explains the root cause of sin, the consequences of sin, law contrasted with grace, and the grace of God resulting in a new freedom and attitude of thinking. He contrasts the attitudes of vain conceit and selfish ambition to the attitude of humility.

You may have heard it said that there is no man greater than the laws of the land. There is mercy apart from the law absolutely, but under the law you better carry that out otherwise you lost it. That is not a popular stance today, and people are called bigots for such a stance.

So what do we read from God’s word to live a new life? Can you really live the Christian life? As a believer, do you struggle in the flesh? Do you fail at times? Yes, we all do. Do you fear calling someone in the body of Christ for help when you struggle? Why not? Are you afraid of being judged? What then is the purpose of the body of Christ? If Christ judges us in the flesh no more, neither should any other believer? Bob explains the role of the body of Christ in encouraging and helping one another.
