Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 23 (05-21-19)
Bob George continues teaching from John 5. He shares again about the Holy Spirit, how this person of the Trinity is our guide and counselor. God sent Jesus to explain how to live in total dependence on the Holy Spirit. Jesus emptied himself of his divine attributes, lived as a man like us, except without sin and lived in total dependence of His Father. So we, who are born again, should let the Spirit of God, living in us, guide us into all truth and counsel us. The Holy Spirit instructs us, showing us the error in our thinking, in order to replace error in our minds with truth. So let us walk in the Spirit and see this fruit be produced in us and through us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.
Bob George also shared the process that takes place in the mind of an unbeliever for him to come to Christ. The law at work, with the drawing of the Holy Spirit, reveals to him his condition of spiritual death. He looks at the law that says do not commit adultery or do … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 22 (05-20-19)
Bob George continues teaching from the book of John, teaching from John 5. Bob explains what religion does, how nonsensical it is, keeping men blind and enslaved in sin and death, in contrast to the attitude of Jesus. Jesus resisted the religious and proud and extended mercy to the humble, who listened to truth and were saved unto new life.
Bob explained the complexity of the Trinity and the functioning of the godhead through the parable of the vine and the branches in John 15. Jesus came to explain the work of the Father and how he and His Father are one. Jesus showed us the working of the Trinity and his total dependence on God the Father as a way of showing us a new way to live just as he did, in total dependence on God. Jesus had the Holy Spirit living in him and listened to the voice of the Father and did only what he saw his Father doing and what His Father told him to do.
Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 19 (05-13-19)
Bob George is teaching from the gospel of John. Currently we are reading the account in John 4 of the Samaritan woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did”. Bob explains what discipleship really is, teaching others about Jesus, the person you came to know. Bob said it this way, “I am not discipling a person to be like me but discipling a person to think like Jesus.” As you share your testimony, you are getting someone’s attention about what God did for you and that God can do something for him too. Bob also exhorts the believer to share the truth of the gospel message. It is vitally important to also share the words of God, the gospel that gave you new spiritual life. The “Born Free” booklet is useful for that purpose. From there, you then disciple a believer, by continuing to share from out of that relationship you have with the living God, the truth that has been revealed to you by the Spirit of God. You are encouraging them to study to know God intimately. You are pointing them to Christ not yourself as you also … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 18 (05-08-19)
Bob George shares again the good news of the gospel, sharing truth from scriptures that he has compiled into a little booklet titled, “Born Free”. What is our part, as believers in Christ?
2 Corinthians 5:20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.
Recall that which Christ has done for us, the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:18-19 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
2 Corinthians 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
We are saved by His life, the cross was not an end in itself, but a means of accomplishing the end – that of restoring life that had been lost through sin.
Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 17 (05-07-19)
Bob George answers the question, “What is the gospel?”. Starting from 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, Bob explains that Jesus died, was buried and was raised from the dead and appeared to you. This is the gospel that saves you, with nothing added to it. The gospel that saves is the message of what Christ has done to take away the consequences of sin, which is death, by the gift of God, which is life. Bob wrote a booklet titled , “Born Free”, that explains the gospel message. There are five main thoughts Bob shares concerning the gospel message.
Man’s problem : Man is spiritually dead and in need of life
God’s Solution : God has provided life through the resurrection of Jesus Christ
Before life could be given, sins had to be forgiven (taken away)
