Professer vs Possessor of Jesus

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Reality of The Resurrection P43 (03-08-22)

Professers vs Possessors of Jesus Christ

Let’s continue on our journey in a Closer Look at the Reality of the Resurrection.

Bob: I think that you will probably agree that teaching through this series on A Closer Look at The Reality of The Resurrection, is one of the most exciting series that we’ve ever done. And, the resurrection of Christ is paramount to the Christian faith. It’s a matter of fact, it is so paramount that Paul said that without the resurrection. our faith is futile. We’re to be pitied of all people because we’re still in our sins. And so the whole essence of the Christian faith rests upon, was that tomb empty? Or was it as I’ve said so many times that the tomb of Jesus is the only one that is famous for who isn’t in it. And again, we have to either explain that away or fall on our face and give our lives to it, that tomb was empty. There had to be a reason for it. That could have been a reason of course, that possibly the apostles came … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Classic Christianity and Growing in Grace

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Reality of The Resurrection P42 (03-07-22)

Approach the Throne of Grace With Confidence

Let’s continue on our journey in a Closer Look at the Reality of the Resurrection.

So when we access the Father, who do we access? The one who is full of grace and of truth. Why do we go to Him to receive grace and truth? You don’t go to God to instruct Him. I mean, just how much instruction do you think you can give to God? You go to God In prayer, to receive instruction, to receive grace in your time of need, finding mercy in your time of need. Most people think prayer is going into His presence to kind of get something from God, like a spoiled brat going in, who’s already been given everything and going in wanting some more. It’s like the spoiled little kid whose father owns Toys R Us and goes in and wants more toys. You already own the store. Yeah, it’s just amazing how our concept of God is and what our concept of what prayers are all about. Prayer is going boldly, receiving mercy, finding help, finding grace … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P31 (08-03-21)

What Does it Mean to Enter God’s Rest?

All of us will face burdens or go weary in this fallen world we live in. Entering God’s rest does not mean we will not face hardships or difficulties in life. It does not mean we will live a completely sinless life, for we still have this struggle with our sin-indwelling flesh that is in conflict with the Spirit, who lives in us now. But it does mean that we have someone to go to, who loves and accepts us unconditionally and wants to give us abundant life. Jesus says He will never leave me nor forsake me and that He remembers my sins no more. That means, as a child of God, I am no longer under the law, under an Old Covenant, but under a New Covenant of grace, and I can boldly go to the throne of grace for help in time of need.

The curtain to the Holy of Holies, where, under an Old Covenant, only the high priest could enter, and that without the shedding of blood, has been torn in two, and that not … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus Made us Competent Ministers

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P29 (07-28-21)

Growing to Maturity in Christ

What does it mean to mature in Christ? Do we become more holy? Do we sin less? Is it about what we do? Or is it about coming to grasp what God alone accomplished for us, understanding the finality of the cross and letting Christ live His life in you and through you? Certainly it is not about trying to obey the letter of the law, for the law is what put us to death. Certainly we are to sin less, but to stop sinning completely, as if that is the goal of the Christian life, is not possible for us in our sin-indwelling flesh, where the desires of the flesh are in conflict with the desires of the Spirit. We are told in scripture to walk by the Spirit so we will not carry out the desires of the flesh. That is why we are under a New Covenant of grace now. What we could not do in the energy of our flesh, God did for us by who He is, perfect love. What we could never do, God did for us. … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus is Our Confidence

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The New Covenant P22 (07-13-21)

Synopsis

Where is your confidence placed? Is it placed in our possessions? They could all be burned up in a fire. It could be here today and gone tomorrow. In your job? You could be fired tomorrow? You could be replaced by a smarter, younger employee, or a dictator could come to power and take all your land away. So what is the power of confidence we have who are in Christ Jesus?

Hebrews 10:32-39
32 Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you endured in a great conflict full of suffering. 33 Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. 34 You suffered along with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions. 35 So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.

36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. 37. For,
