A very common concern people have, and a very important concern, is doubt of their salvation. You are either ignoring the life that is in you or you do not have that life in you. The first Larry that called had this concern. After listening to Bob share truth, he concluded that he did not think he had the life of God living in him. He was not certain he had ever invited the life of God to come into him. He was diagnosed as bipolar by secular psychologists and had been drinking for over 20 years and has now found himself in a mental hospital. Is there hope for him? For you? Of course there is. The problem is really with his heart and his thinking. Will he hold on to a proud heart, leaning on his own understanding and going his own way, thinking he can do it on his own, or will he simply believe the truth he has just heard about God’s provision for sin and death and offer of new resurrected life. Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 59 (08-14-19)

Synopsis

We are in the book of John, chapter 12, after Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. Then there was a dinner in the honor of Jesus, and Lazarus was there, and then a festival that took place. After the festival, Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. On his way, some Greeks who had gone to worship at the festival, wanted to see Jesus. They told Philip and in turn he told Andrew and they both told Jesus. Jesus then speaks truth about his purpose in coming to this earth, the mission he came to complete.

While all these events had transpired, the Pharisees and religious leaders are getting more and more upset, and sought to kill Lazarus as well as Jesus. After Lazarus was raised from the dead, the word of Jesus was spreading even more. Recall that job security killed Jesus. They could not be teachers of the law if everyone follows Jesus. They wanted people to listen to their teaching of the law that was contrary to what Jesus was teaching. Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 40 (07-02-19)

Bob George shares a very practical message of the meaning of the gospel as he continues sharing from the gospel of John. He begins in John 8, where Jesus identifies himself as the light of the world, contrasting darkness (the lost, the dead) with the light (the saved, with life). You are not going into the market place telling people how sinful they are but how dead they are. No man will ever go to hell because of his sins but only because of the sin of the rejection of life. If you reject life you remain dead (John 3:36). If you reject the offer of forgiveness you remain unforgiven. You who are in Christ have good news to tell people. It is a very practical message of the meaning of the gospel. You, who are in Christ Jesus, are His ambassadors.

Bob George explains why Jesus came to this earth to say what he did and do what he did, culminating in his death, burial and resurrection. Jesus Asks of Us Lean Not on Your Own Understanding

Tony asked for understanding of a conversation he had with people who believed that the apostle Paul was the only person with the mystery of the gospel. Bob instructed him to stay away from such erroneous teaching and rely on the Spirit to teach you and trust Him to complete the work he started in you. Think about Ephesians 3:5 and 2 Timothy 3:16 for example. Bob then answered his question about priesthood and ambassadors. Those in Christ Jesus are ambassadors for Christ, since our citizenship is in heaven, representatives of God on earth and our priestly function, with the Spirit living in us, is to represent Christ to the lost and the lost to Christ. Aaron got into a conversation with Bob, agreeing that scare tactics is not an effective way of evangelizing. Bob addressed that the heart of the gospel is the resurrection. Bob personally addresses the person’s need of new life first, and if the person then does not accept or agree, then it would be fine to address the matter of their being on their way to hell in unbelief, but he would not start there. Bob George received a call from Jim who simply asked if love is more important than faith. Bob answered from scripture that love indeed is greater than faith because love is from God and God is love. God initiated love to us and we respond to that love in faith. So faith is man’s response to love. Do we accept his love or do we reject it? Do we even understand that love? Whoever does not love does not know God because God is love.

Bob George also received a call from a young college lady, Lynn, who had found herself in an unwanted situation. She had committed fornication and is now pregnant. She wanted to know if abortion was wrong. Bob graciously shared truth with her, that abortion indeed is the sin of murder. Bob graciously provided practical advice and explained the truth of God’s unconditional love toward her. He shared such practical wisdom to help her make choices in line with who she is as a born again believer. God created life and this child she has was a life God intended to live. Bob George answered calls from several believers who wanted clarification of truth. There are many things people hear from the church world today. Oftentimes what they hear is confusing and contrary to what they have been reading in God’s word. There is a tendency to trust what a pastor says over what can clearly be revealed from God’s word. Remember, the Holy Spirit is your teacher and He will guide you into all truth. Take heed to His word.

Michael was puzzled about these parents who take their kids to psychologists to get treated for behavioral issues like attention deficit disorder. Where does that all come from. Bob tells people to go to the manufacturer. Who created our bodies and knows how we are made? God. Then go to God and find out about how our mind, will and emotions work. Yet, oftentimes, the first person we see is a psychologist, and more often than not, he does not even know the Lord. Why go to the ungodly for counsel?
