Knowing the Finality of the Cross and Being Made Complete in Christ Exposes the Common Errors Taught in Christendom Still Today

Preachers can be quite persuasive with illustrations that sure makes something sound so believable and true. They may not be doing this deliberately trying to deceive the people, but they are passing along error of what has been taught to them. They could be well-meaning and sincere, but nevertheless what they are teaching is error. So it is important that we grow in discernment by checking out whatever anyone says by studying the word of God ourselves, relying on the Holy Spirit, who lives in us, to teach us the meaning.

A common example of wrongful teaching is on this area of forgiveness, making a distinction between judicial forgiveness, that which Jesus’ death takes away, and then those parental sins that we must still confess to get back in fellowship with God on. By the Spirit, Study the Word to Know the Truth About Forgiveness and Salvation

There is a lot of misunderstanding of the finality of the cross in the world of Christendom today. When you know the truth from the Word of God, then whatever error is out there can easily be spotted. When Jesus said, “It is finished” when dying on a cross, what did He mean?

John 19:30
30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

31 Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jewish leaders did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down.

What is finished? What was accomplished when Jesus died on a cross? And, was His death all that was necessary for man to be saved? To be saved means to be saved from death by being made alive in Christ. Death is an eternal separation from God. Growing in Grace: Study the Word to Get to Know the Author, Who lives in you

If you just recently became a new believer, born again by the Spirit of God, then you need to grow. Just as a baby born physically of a mom and dad, there is a need for food and exercise, as well as just getting to know your parents, that has to occur. So too, when you are born again from above, by the Spirit of God, the Spirit is placed in you so you can get to know the one who made you into a new creation. The food is the word of God and the one who reveals the meaning of the word of God to you is the Spirit of God who lives in you.

So as a new born infant in Christ, not much is expected of you. You certainly do not expect much fruit out of a baby any more than you can expect a baby to be driving a car. As you read the bible, relying on the Spirit to explain things to you, you will have questions. As you go through life experiences and reflect on life, there are more and more questions that you ask. You never stop growing. If you escaped the horrors of Vietnam or World War II, or had to start all over after the devastation of a tornado or a hurricane, even losing a loved one, you may have asked many questions while trying to hold onto whatever you can call life. Common questions asked are “Where is God?” or “Why is there such evil in this world?” or “Why did God allow this to happen?”

There are all kinds of people in this world who face all kinds of challenges in life. Maybe you have not experienced love or grace in a church environment, unlike others you hear about who seem to just express how much they just love their church family. Others have grown up without a father for their mother had to flee from an abusive husband as far away as she could to a place of safety. How is that two people can both hear the same message concerning Christ, and one will become born again and another not? Recall what Jesus told in the parable of the farmer who sowed his seed (Mark 4:1-25). As you read the scriptures, such as Hebrews, what is your attitude of heart? Do you read it with a filter on, as if only a priest can explain the meaning of it to you? Or are you reading it for answers to the meaning and purpose of life, that if I do not understand what this means, I will not be made alive or able to live? Are you reading it that if God Himself does not explain the meaning to me, I will not know what it means? Where is the condition of your heart, is it hard towards God or is it soft and pliable? Man Needed Reconciliation to God with Sins Forgiven but Also Restoration with God, with Eternal Life, Being Made Complete in Christ Jesus

There are many people who say they got saved when they were young, but later in life had doubts. A simple question to ask, “What was your understanding of the gospel?” When Bob George asked people that question, he says that nine times out of ten a person will respond that the gospel is getting your sins forgiven. That in itself is not the gospel. It is a necessary preparation for the gospel to be given. So what is the gospel, the message of good news in Christ Jesus?

Jesus came to take away the sins of the world, and that is how man’s sins have been forgiven. There was a means in the Old Testament to get your sins forgiven, and it involved the shedding of blood of an animal, but it had to be repeated year after year, and could never take away sins.
