Synopsis

So we allow Christ to live His life in us and through us by having our minds renewed with truth, of who God is, so that new attitudes of heart are formed in us, the attitudes of servitude, of humility and dependency that are in Christ Jesus, and modeled perfectly by Christ as He walked on this earth, in appearance as a man, being God, but functioning as a man for our sakes. We imitate His faith, not His actions. Actions are a result of attitudes, a result of dependency on Christ, being internally led by the Spirit of God who lives in us. When you have the Spirit of God living in you, then you can hear His voice like a sheep knows the voice of a shepherd. As a new creation in Christ, we have been given the privilege to participate in the divine nature.

Now, we were not born alive with the Spirit of God living in us. We were born spiritually dead. That is why man feels empty inside, because he is. When we come to understand the love of God for us, His mercy and grace to us, how do we respond to that? Should that not form in us new attitudes of heart? How should that result in love in action, in how we act toward our brothers and sisters in Christ? When you are born again, you have been made into a new creation, the body of Christ, the church of the born again, the Ekklesia, the called out ones, of whom you are brothers and sisters to one another, with Christ Jesus as your head, your Counselor, your common Father.

When you think of a physical body with many parts, controlled by the head, how does that help you to understand how we are to function towards one another in love. Each body part is unique in function and no one part is considered more important than another, and each responds to the instructions of the head to operate properly. So too with the body of Christ. Synopsis

As we think about the attitudes of love, we think about the attitude of Christ Jesus, who is God, and God is love. Again, Jesus did not come here so we can copy his actions. What He did is what God called Him to do. He did not call us to raise Lazarus from the dead, nor are we able to raise anyone from the dead. We are the ones who needed to be raised from the dead, and that is why Christ Jesus came to do what he did and that is how we know what love is.

What Jesus did was show us what it means to live as a man. We are meant to live by faith in the same way he did. We are to imitate his faith, the trust and total dependency on His Father. He emptied himself of his divine attributes, coming in appearance as a man, and although never ceasing to be God, as the second Adam, one with the Spirit of God in Him, did nothing of his own initiative but did exactly what he saw his Father doing and saying exactly what his Father told him to say and how to say it.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Synopsis

It is so important to be transformed by the renewing of your mind. To worship God, you must worship Him in Spirit and in truth. If you have the Spirit of God living in you, you have truth living in you. Truth will not lead you to the pattern of this world. Truth will be transforming you by renewing your mind, not by altering it.

Much of psychology is about altering your mind. But Christ living in you is about changing attitudes of heart and thinking in the new way of the Spirit, in accordance with how God intended you to function, with Him living in you. Who would you rather go to for truth, God your creator, who knows how the mind works, or the psychologist, who most likely does not even know God and is relying on the thinking patterns of this world, and relying on his own understanding?

As a lost person, you cannot worship God because you do not have truth living in you. How can you worship someone you do not know? But when you are born again, you know God by the Spirit He has given you.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Synopsis

To the degree we grasp God’s love for us is the degree to which we can allow God’s love to be produced in us and through us into the lives of others. We are a conduit of God’s truth and grace, of His love in our hearts. As we receive from Him, that is what then spills over into the lives of others. We cannot produce this fruit of the Spirit. As we abide in Him, in the source of love, rely on Him, allow our minds to be renewed with truth, fruit of the Spirit is borne in our lives to the glory of God and the benefit of others.

Knowing this love of God is so vitally important. Until we know the love of God for us, we have nothing to pass on to others. For apart from Him we can do nothing. We were designed to be dependent on Him. God wants us to trust in Him, that He has given us everything we need for life and godliness. The Spirit teaches us what truth is and replaces error with truth as He guides us, as a counselor and perfectly loving Father, into all truth and teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Synopsis

Every generation has seen an increase in wickedness. We do not have to look too far back in history, in Nazi Germany, to get a glimpse of how evil things can get. And, we see things today that pale in comparison, but are just horrific as well. Emotionally, we are not built for that. If we allow our minds to dwell there, we can no longer hold up any more than Peter could when his eyes were on the winds and the waves instead of on Jesus. Jesus even told us that as time draws near to the end that the love of most will grow cold because of all the evil that will be seen. But He also told us that this gospel will go out into all the world, and then the end will come. God’s word will not be silenced. Even in judgment, God’s heart is held out, showing such long-suffering and patience, not willing anyone should perish. Even in the tribulation period, spoken of in Revelation, He sends angels to warn from heaven, to not take the mark of the beast.
