Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P642 (06-11-21)

Synopsis

A very common misunderstanding is the concept of confession and repentance of sin. A lot of erroneous thinking comes from denominational influences. Many of us grew up in a Catholic or a Protestant type of church, so you probably have heard people say you need to confess your sins to a priest or to God. But very few people have really checked into the word of God to see if what is being said is true or not. Take a look at what Jesus said prior to His ascension back to heaven while he walked on this earth for some forty days. He said He came to prove the world wrong about what they think sin is, of what people think they need to repent of.

John 16:7-11
7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. 8 When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 about sin, because

We Were Reconciled to God

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P612 (02-26-21)

Synopsis

Many callers, as they are growing in Christ, as we all are, have questions. If you have been in Christ for some time now, there are certain questions that are commonly asked, which if you do not understand the context or the difference between law and grace or the difference between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant, some passages might be confusing to you.

This is certainly true of those who grew up under some kind of religious teaching where foundational truths were not taught. Oftentimes people are taught to memorize certain passages of scripture as a child, such as through an AWANA program or some other church program for youth. The problem with scripture memory is if the passages before and after a memory verse are not read, or not understood in its context, false teaching occurs. So, in many cases, a renewing of the mind has to occur so people can grab a hold of truth.

One of the questions asked in relation to the Lord’s prayer is this. Will God forgive us if we do not forgive someone who sins against us? People also often recite … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus Fulfilled the Law For Us

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P586 (11-06-20)

Synopsis

The topics that often come up among believers is what about repenting of your sins. Many people think sharing the gospel requires people to repent of all their sins. Other people think that the law is a support for a believer, like a guide to live by. We hear a lot of things in this world, but all those things we hear have to be tested with the word of God and through the Spirit of God, to test the truth of what is being said.

The truth of the matter is, none of us are born a Christian. We were all born lost, without the spirit of God living in us. We had to be born again. When we were lost, we were, by default under the law of sin and death. We had to be released from that law and set free in Christ. Under law, there is a punishment, otherwise the meaningless.

The punishment for sin, according to God, is the wages of sin is death. For God to be perfectly just, that punishment for sin had to be paid. That is just too great a price … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Place Faith in Jesus Only

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P66 (04-08-20)

Synopsis

As we close in the last chapter of Romans, Paul writes a warning to us to be on guard against false prophets, against those who use flattery to draw disciples away after them, who claim to have special knowledge, of those who deny the humanity and deity of Christ. The false prophets today are the prosperity gospel teachers who teach godliness as a means to financial gain. The other false teachers are those who preach the tithe as a means to be blessed of God. We have the words of Jesus issuing the same warning, telling us ahead of time about this spirit of the anti-Christ that is already in the world. You have those anti-Christ religions, such as the Jehovah Witnesses, who deny Jesus is God, that you should stay away from. We have the writings of the apostle John, writings to help a pastor protect the people of God from the false prophets, the Gnostics in their midst, bringing destructive heresies. We have the words of Timothy and the apostles, warning us again and again to be on guard. Do not listen to those false prophets. Stay away from … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
