Understanding What The Bible Means

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P796 (01-04-23)

Understanding What The Word God Says and What it Means Are Two Different Things

~ Chip: “Hey, a little quick background on me. Before I get to my question, I started listening to you back in 1993. And before that, I’ve been in Christ for about about four years. And I remember being so sincere in my faith, and I was just really living the Christian life in my own flesh and the energy of my own flesh. For example, I just remember memorizing about 300 Bible passages, and I really thought I was hot stuff. But the problem was, I didn’t have any an idea or understanding about what the New Covenant was. So I was just utterly confused about what they really meant. For example, I memorize a sin on the mountain really tried to learn how to live righteously. And in the Sermon on the Mount. What Jesus I think was doing in the Sermon on the Mount, it just killed me utterly, condemned me and the more that I would memorize that, the more that I just began to question my own salvation, and really just led … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Repent of Your Unbelief

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P673 (09-23-21)

Let No One Steer You Away from Truth; Rather Let the Holy Spirit Teach You Truth through His Word

At times, various callers call in with basic questions, yet important questions. People can get bogged down in end times events, and as to when the rapture happens and if we will be around when the antichrist is here, forcing great and small to take the mark of the beast. God does want us to read about the end events, otherwise why would Revelation be written. But it is written not so we can be scared but rather to be prepared. Let us also not forget about living for today in the Spirit, walking in the newness of life, where we are trusting the Spirit moment by moment. He certainly tells us to not be anxious about anything and wants us to experience joy and peace whatever you are facing today (Philippians 4:6, Romans 14:17, Galatians 5:22-23, John 15).

We need to keep everything we do in proper perspective. If you are a Christian in Afghanistan for example, you certainly will not be spending much time talking about end times. You will … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Closer Look at The Finality of the Cross

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at The Finality of The Cross P7 (08-23-21)

Love motivated God to Provide All We Need for Life and Godliness

I believe everyone knows they have a need for forgiveness. But what the world is confused or ignorant about is how we can have forgiveness. There is this idea the world has of on-going forgiveness, that when I sin then I need to do something to get that sin removed, whether it would be going to a confessional booth, confessing your sins to a priest, or doing your 1 John 1:9 of going direct to God to get your sins erased, as a means to get cleansed of your sin, or in the case of an Israelite, in the times of the Old Testament, of going back to the day of atonement, sacrificing a bull and a goat. The problem with all of these systems, they are man-made ideas of how man can do something to have right standing before God. Although the animal sacrifice was required by God under an Old Covenant system, it could cover sin but it could never take sins away and only make a man conscious of sin. Man … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus is God the Word of God

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P642 (06-11-21)

Synopsis

A very common misunderstanding is the concept of confession and repentance of sin. A lot of erroneous thinking comes from denominational influences. Many of us grew up in a Catholic or a Protestant type of church, so you probably have heard people say you need to confess your sins to a priest or to God. But very few people have really checked into the word of God to see if what is being said is true or not. Take a look at what Jesus said prior to His ascension back to heaven while he walked on this earth for some forty days. He said He came to prove the world wrong about what they think sin is, of what people think they need to repent of.

John 16:7-11
7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. 8 When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 about sin, because

We Were Reconciled to God

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P612 (02-26-21)

Synopsis

Many callers, as they are growing in Christ, as we all are, have questions. If you have been in Christ for some time now, there are certain questions that are commonly asked, which if you do not understand the context or the difference between law and grace or the difference between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant, some passages might be confusing to you.

This is certainly true of those who grew up under some kind of religious teaching where foundational truths were not taught. Oftentimes people are taught to memorize certain passages of scripture as a child, such as through an AWANA program or some other church program for youth. The problem with scripture memory is if the passages before and after a memory verse are not read, or not understood in its context, false teaching occurs. So, in many cases, a renewing of the mind has to occur so people can grab a hold of truth.

One of the questions asked in relation to the Lord’s prayer is this. Will God forgive us if we do not forgive someone who sins against us? People also often recite … Listen to Broadcast & Read More

Jesus Says Who do You Say I Am

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Jesus Christ P15 (11-04-20)

Synopsis

So concerning this person called Jesus of Nazareth, what have you concluded him to be? Do you think he is a madman, a lunatic, a liar or that he really is who he claimed to be, God in the flesh? What have those who walked on the earth with him, who saw him, touched him and ate with him, have to say? What did they have to say about him? Were they lunatics, liars or impostors too? Or did they believe him to be who he claimed to be, God in the flesh?

And if Jesus really is God in the flesh, then why would he want to come down and live on this rotten earth, with so much sorrow, sickness, pain and death? Why would he subject himself to such things? And why would he put on human flesh? And if He came from heaven, and he said he only says what His Father told him to say and what to say, then what words of God did he say that he wanted us to know? This must be a very important person to come from heaven … Listen to Broadcast & Read More
