Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P475 (9-20-19)

Synopsis

Ernest from Strausburg, PA

Ernest: I have a quick question on 2 Timothy 2:12.

2 Timothy 2:12
12 if we endure,
we will also reign with him.
If we disown him,
he will also disown us;

Ernest: What does that mean?

Bob: A person who denies Christ, Christ denies them. He accepts our non-acceptance. You say you do not want anything to do with God. Then He says that He will not have anything to do with you either. It would be like a person who says, “I do not want to be around this person”. Then he says, “I do not want to be around you then”. (Of course, God is patient and waiting for a person to change their mind, longing to be gracious to him.)

Bob: Now talking about Christians. If you are faithless, then he will remain faithful for he cannot disown Himself. When you come to Christ, you have not denied Him because you came to Him by faith. But you can be faithless, that is, you can choose to not continue to walk by faith. In the midst of that, He will remain faithful because He cannot disown Himself, because You and Him are one now.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Be Transformed Renew Your Mind

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P474 (9-19-19)

Synopsis

Rainey from Albany, NY

Rainey: I am reading Classic Christianity, and calling the number at the end of the book. I am dealing with depression. I have had a very difficult childhood, with divorce. I thought I got over most of the stuff. I was always religious, a Catholic growing up, and thought I would become a nun. I think anti-depressants help. I get messages that I do not have enough faith.

Bob: Let me see if I can help you. If you have depression, I can help you with that. Psychiatric patients are like that because they are obsessed with the past or the future. The first thing you have to understand is that God created you that our feelings will predictably respond to what you are thinking. As an example, “Have you ever felt the emotion of jealousy? What were you thinking? Jealous thoughts. That is why we are feeling thoughts of jealousy. Are we together?

Rainey: Yes. It is hard to keep a thought from entering.

Bob: Have you ever felt sad? Have you ever felt happy? What were you thinking? Happy thoughts. Have you ever felt anxiety?… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Faith in Jesus Sets You Apart

Classic Christianity – Book of John Part 74 (09-18-19)

Transcript

We are going to pick up in the 15th chapter of John. We will be discussing how the Christian life is to be lived. Again, we cannot live Christ’s life for Him. We have to allow Him to live His life in and through us. When we do not understand that truth, we come to Christ, and with no less than a noble effort, we go and seek out a life we cannot live. We go out and struggle and strain, but we cannot go out and live a life Christ told us to live. We must allow Him to live it in and through us. The illustration He gave us on that is the parable of the vine and the branches. There is no greater illustration of it than this. He says, “I am the vine”. The vine is the source of the fruit. You are the branch. We bear the fruit but only the vine can supply the fruit. There is a bondage between the two. Jesus is saying, ’I want us to work together. I do the production and you do the bearing of the fruit, and quite frankly it will look like you are doing it”.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus Said It Is Finished

Call-In Classic Christianity Radio – Bob George P473 (9-13-19)

Synopsis

Logan from New Orleans, LA

Logan: I have a question about Hebrews 6. I understand you cannot lose salvation but when I read this I do not understand.

Hebrews 6:4-6
4 It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age 6 and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.

Bob: This is talking to the very people who think they can lose salvation. Hebrew 10 is dealing with this issue. The book was written to Hebrews. How do the Hebrews get their sins forgiven prior to Christ? The day of atonement. They sacrifice animals. They went back to the day of atonement to get their sins forgiven. Once Christ took away the sins of the entire world when he went to the cross, do you still go back to the day of atonement to get sins forgiven?… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Many times a person hears something but gets two different answers. Truth is not found in denominations or church fathers but from truth revealed to you by the Spirit of God as you read and study God’s word, relying on the Holy Spirit to teach you the meaning of His words. A mature believer in Christ, like Bob George, can help assist you in your learning. Bob often asks probing questions to help you draw out the meaning of God’s word.

Liz heard about Communion from a Catholic church and also from a non-Catholic church. By studying John 3, and having the Holy Spirit in you, you can easily discern that in no way is Jesus literally, or actually present, in a wafer, that you digest and that then goes out your digestive tract.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
