Synopsis

Do people really understand what faith is? Is faith something you concentrate on for God to do something, that you could cause God to act? No, that would put you in the position of the initiator. We were born dead, and now as a born again believer, apart from Him we can do nothing. We are responders. We respond to what he has already done, and in what he has said and has already given. You have been given everything you need for life and godliness. That does not mean you live in independent from God.

2 Peter 1:3
3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

Adam chose to live independently of God, and that is how sin and death entered the world, and so all men died. Faith Hope and Love in Jesus

Synopsis

I heard on social media, where a person asked these sincere and honest questions. “I am often uncertain about what to say, when the great commission comes up in conversation. Do we all do street preaching? I hardly ever do that. (Been sometime since the last, a year! ) Is one to one witness whenever I can, enough? Is trying to show what Jesus preached in how I live, not part of it? Are we all missionaries? I was sent to mainland China but again, that was long ago. I do feel inadequate, at times. So when we talk of the great commission – what do you actually do?”

As I was thinking how to answer his questions, this is what God put on my heart to write. I think of this faith, hope and love that are ours in Christ Jesus, as God initiated that love to us first in Christ Jesus, whom he sent to this world so we might visually see what a person filled with the Holy Spirit looks like. Synopsis

I have heard believers, when reading the scriptures, Christians come across the passage in Matthew 12 where Jesus says that every kind of sin can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. With such a strong statement, people have wondered if they have committed such a sin. What is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit? First, Jesus spoke while living during the time of the Old Covenant, while proclaiming the New Covenant to come. He spoke that he would prove the world wrong about righteousness, judgment and sin, and about sin, because of unbelief in Him (John 16:7-11). So, the world’s sin is unbelief in Jesus. Blaspheming against the Holy Spirit is refusing to believe in the totality of the godhead; that God the Father sent the Son into this world to take away the sins of the world. The Holy Spirit reveals the truth about God to men, testifying that Jesus is the promised Messiah, God in the flesh. Be Grace Sanctified

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P60 (03-25-20)

Synopsis

As believers, we are being sanctified even as we are sanctified. Sanctified means that you are set apart for the purpose God created you. God made you into a new creation, a child of God, with His Spirit living in you. We have the mind of Christ so in our thinking we are to think differently than the world, who knows not God nor has the Spirit. So we are already sanctified. We are to walk by faith in accordance with who you are, a child of God.

God also wants us to grow, to allow ourselves to become sanctified in this world we live in. God wants to renew your mind so you live in accordance with His good purposes for you. So we are to think soberly and guard our minds.

Romans 12:1-2
1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Unity of the Spirit in Jesus

Synopsis

Have you ever wondered what your spiritual gift is? Maybe you already know? Bob shares a life example to help you discern your spiritual gift. Suppose a child spills a glass of milk at a church gathering, what would your immediate response be? With this simple example, you can more readily see if you are a servant, encourager, admonisher, teacher, or leader.

Read along in Romans 12, as Paul describes the spiritual gifts and then explains their purpose. Their purpose is not to edify or serve yourself, but to serve, edify and benefit the body. So the gifts are given by God, as He apportioned them to each member of the body, to serve one another in love. Bob then turns to Ephesians 4, another passage that provides more details on the purpose of the body. Ponder also on these verses in Ephesians 3:14-20, Romans 8:9 and Matthew 28:19-20.

Bob then explains what Trinity is. The reason people have difficulty understanding Trinity is because they try to put flesh and blood on them. You cannot do that. God is Spirit. Jesus is Head of the Church

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P50 (03-03-20)

Synopsis

This flesh of ours is so contrary to the Spirit. We are instructed in the scriptures to walk in the Spirit so we do not carry out the desires of the flesh. The flesh likes to be puffed up and so prone to becoming proud. Recall that even the apostle Paul testified of his struggle in the flesh. Because of such divine revelations he received from God, God thought it best that Paul needed to be buffeted by a thorn in the flesh lest he is overcome with pride. Paul prayed three times for this thorn to be removed, but God said “No. My grace is sufficient for you.” So the apostle Paul replied to God, and said, “I delight in my weaknesses for when I am weak then I am strong.” So Paul is exhorting believers to not think more highly of themselves than they ought.

Consider how God has created this new body of believers, made up of all those who are born again, who are connected by one head, who is Christ Jesus. Jesus is the head of the church.
