Jesus Has Prepared a New Body For Believers

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P34 (01-27-19)

Synopsis

In this mortal body of ours, you, who are in Christ, being born again, have the Spirit of God living in you. This body of flesh and blood is not suited for heaven, being weakened by the fall of man, and will go the grave. But God sealed in you the Holy Spirit of promise, to one day be raised, with a new body, an immortal body designed for heaven. We long to be clothed in our new body, but while we are on this fallen world, where even all creation groans for its redemption, we live by faith.

The same Spirit, in the earthly body of Jesus, is the same Spirit living in us. As Jesus lived by faith, with the Spirit living in him, doing only what he saw his Father doing and only saying what is Father told him to say and how to say it, is the perfect model of how man was designed to function. That is why he is referred to as the second Adam. We are designed to walk in the same manner of faith as he did.

Knowing God is Knowing Jesus

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P33 (01-22-19)

Synopsis

Mankind was created by God to be in a loving relationship of trust. We were to trust God, the one who created us. Mankind was created with free will so we can choose to love God. But since the fall of mankind, we have his sin-indwelling flesh, that is in conflict with the Spirit. The flesh does not trust the Spirit.

It seems that those who are uneducated, the poor or the slaves are much more likely to depend on God. You may notice the black spirituals in the days of slavery where the blacks relied so much on God, for that is all they had. I was just talking with my sister who observed a nursing home that was the most poorly funded and had few equipment available to help the elderly. They were the most kind-hearted and grateful people compared to the other nursing homes in the area that had so much more.

In the time of Christ Jesus, the lame, the sick, those with leprosy, and the downtrodden came to Christ before the religious Jews or the wealthy. Do Not Lean on Your Own Understanding

Synopsis

How important it is to study God’s word to know the author of the book, who is God. But who can understand God without the spirit of God living in Him? Nobody. But if you are not born again, having the Spirit of God placed in you, you need to hear His word because faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. And how blessed you will be when you hear someone preach the meaning of it to you, who rightly explains the meaning, as revealed by the Spirit of God, and you believe the message and are born again. But if you are born again, then in order to grow in grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, you need to study God’s word, in its whole context, while asking the Spirit to reveal the meaning of the word to you. The Spirit is the one who has to reveal the meaning of it to you. The Wages of Sin is Death

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P28 (01-13-19)

Synopsis

Continuing on in Romans, Paul explains how the law stirs up sin. He used the example of coveting, because that gets us all. He would not have known what coveting was if the law had not said “do not covet”. But he found that when he tried not to covet, he coveted all the more. He found he could not carry out the law, even though the law is holy, righteous and good. So the problem is not in the law, but in himself. The problem of mankind is sin. In the flesh is sin. The law, which is intended to bring life, actually brought about his death, that he would come to say, “What a wretched man I am”. The purpose of the law is so that you come to the end of the law for righteousness, and in your wretched condition, you turn to the only one who can give you life, the resurrected life of Christ Jesus.

So the law brought about our death. One common question that gets asked quite often is about how the law of Moses applies to us today. Well, if you are a lost person, then it still applies to you to lead you to Christ, for that is the purpose of the law. The law was added so man might recognize he is a sinner, and then understand his condition of death to God, so that he might to Christ to receive new life. Otherwise, the cross of Christ has no meaning to him. The law of Moses was written on stone and is a ministry of death and condemnation. That is, the law is like a mirror, to tell you what your problem is. Although it was glorious, though fading, it does not compare to the glorious ministry of righteousness that Jesus gives to those who are born again. For those who have been born again, the law of Moses does not apply. None of it. Not the ten commandments and not the ceremonial laws or any other laws. Why? There is nothing that has overtaken you except what is common to man. Depression and addictions of all kinds are common to man. That does not mean everybody will be addicted to alcohol or cocaine, but the root problem is the same. Brokenness and sin manifests itself in people in different ways. No matter what condition you are in, Christ Jesus is who you really need. Are you depressed? What do you think causes depression? It really stems from a thinking problem. You are thinking about the bad things that happened yesterday, or even projecting what life will be like tomorrow, and your feelings naturally follow. At times, such depression will lead to other thinking issues and other areas of addiction, such as alcohol or cocaine. And what do people naturally do? They compare themselves with others, assuming others have it all together. The truth of the matter is, nobody has it all together. Religion also compounds the problem, making demands of you, that you could never meet. That also leads to frustration. Some respond by giving up.
