Synopsis

So many people call in and ask questions about salvation. They are often confused by what they hear in their particular denomination or various preachers on television. Again, it is so important to rely on the holy spirit to reveal truth to you through the scriptures He has given to us through the prophets and apostles, who were eyewitnesses, when Jesus was alive walking on this earth. Ultimately, that is where truth has to come, from the Spirit of God in Jesus, who Himself is God in the flesh.

So often we hear from people that you can lose your salvation or that you have to do something to keep yourself right with God, or you have to be obedient to the law so as to keep in God’s grace or to do some religious practice to get more grace. All of that is simply not true. If anyone says you can lose your salvation then they do not know what salvation is. If anyone says that salvation depends on what you do then he does not understand salvation. Who is Jesus Christ? Is He God? If so, why is that important to know? What else do I need to know, so that by believing I might have life in his name? Is Jesus just a good man, a prophet, a good teacher or is He God? Come join us as we look at the evidence for believing in the Deity of Jesus Christ, and by believing you may have life in His name.

All religions of the world would have to recognize the historical fact that Jesus walked on this earth. Even our calendars testify of that. But knowing that He is God, does that mean I can become like God? Did Jesus become God? No! He always was God and always will be God. How do you know that?

You can know the scriptures and be like many Jews, and reject Jesus as God. Or you can believe based on the historical evidence itself. We all have doubts in life. It is just natural to mankind. “How do I know Jesus is God?” “I have to see to believe.” These are things you may have said, or even heard others say. Have you thought through the truth of such a statement, that I have to see to believe. A lawyer once said, “Believe half of what you see and nothing of what you hear.” Everything that you see and hear must be verified with corroborating evidence. So what evidence do we have so we may believe Jesus is God?

Sometimes seeing can get us into trouble, when our eyes are focused on the trials and storms of life, and you think all is lost. In the natural realm, yes, a storm could sink your boat and you could drown. But who is in control of all things, the storm and the seas of life? Consider the real life lesson as told by Jesus when his disciples were out on the Sea of Galilee in a fishing boat, when a storm rose up all of a sudden. What are you looking for? Has every need been met in your life? What about the meaning and purpose to life? What about a reason to live? What about wisdom, righteousness and forgiveness? Many people, lost and saved, are looking for things, something that lasts. They may not even be sure what they are looking for. And, if you are saved, have you not realized all that you do have in Him? You do not seek what you already have.

At some point, it is vitally important that you come to realize that the thing you are looking for is not in a thing but in a person, the person of Jesus Christ. I am not looking for wisdom, for in Him, He became wisdom for me. I am not looking for forgiveness, because in Him, I have become a forgiven person. He has become for me my wisdom. Synopsis

When you think of all the things spoken by the prophets, that were fulfilled in Christ, and how sovereign God is, that everything He has said has come to pass, who, in their right mind, would not come to come and choose life? The star stooped over the place where Jesus lay, just as it was spoken through the prophet. Jesus shall be called Emmanuel, and we see the transfiguration, where a voice from heaven says, “Listen to him. This is My Beloved Son”. God spoke to Joseph and Mary through dreams, and what was spoken through the prophets was fulfilled, such as Jesus would be called a Nazarene. Numerous miracles were performed through Jesus, as the prophets of old said he would do when he came. John the Baptist was visited in prison, and Jesus told his disciples to report these things to him while he was in prison. Jesus himself, at various times said that he would die, but on the third day, be raised again. Then, after Jesus’ resurrection, he appeared to over 500 people, many at that time who were still alive. Synopsis

Simeon prophesied that Jesus will cause the rising and falling of many in Israel, a sign that will be spoken against, so that the hearts of many will be revealed. There is something about mankind, who is born spiritually dead, that he is naturally opposed to truth. Truth sounds as foolishness to him. You can talk about God all day long, and people seem to be okay with that. People talk about all kinds of religions, and people are okay with that. But once you talk about Jesus or the truth of His word, there is an aversion, a pulling away, or even quite a reaction with false accusations.

In today’s world, hardly anyone wants to hear truth anymore. The bible and prayer have long been kicked out of the public sphere. Situational ethics and evolution have been taught in our schools. Seminaries are teaching things that ought not to be taught. Even bible societies and bible translators are not required to uphold the bible as the inerrant word of God. Jesus warned about this when he spoke about the tares among the wheat.
