Synopsis

The religious mind is still bent upon establishing a righteousness of their own. But God came that we might receive His righteousness. At such a point in time in history, a person understands what God did for him through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He knows the meaning of what Jesus Christ alone accomplished for him and enters into a relationship with the living God. This is a work of the Holy Spirit, to be made complete in Christ. When you are born again, you have been made complete in Christ.

All of God is in Christ and all of Christ is living in you, if you are born again. Christ was all the fullness in bodily form, receiving all of his resources from God the Father, and now I have been given that completeness and fullness in Christ. You have the fullness of God living in you. That is what makes you complete.

Yes, and if he is a solid teacher, he is not going to merely teach you what he thinks, but will point you to Christ and the scriptures so you can see for yourself what God has said. Then, you, having the Spirit of God in you, are in a position to allow the Spirit to reveal truth to you. That is how we all grow in grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

As we come to understand the meaning of God’s word, then we are able to take every thought captive to the obedience to Christ and are not easily swayed by the opinions or traditions of men, those who have fine sounding arguments but yet not based on truth. So then we are no longer tossed and turned by every wind of doctrine, but become stable in our faith and productive in our walk. People are so filled with gratitude when they realize the truth of what salvation really is. The gospel, the message of good news that God came to bring to us through His Son, and what was accomplished through His death, burial and resurrection, continues to change lives today. People from time to time have called into the radio program, having been blessed by the truth they heard, the spiritual wisdom and knowledge of God, of the grace of God that helped them escape bondage to legalism and to grab a hold of life in Christ Jesus, which is what true living is all about.

From time to time, people, out of their own love for the Lord, will give financial or of their time and energy, so the truth of the word of God, of life in Christ Jesus, continues to go out. If you are wondering if there is a God, just take a closer look at nature, such as the birth of a child or even an animal. So you can conclude there is a God, and that is a good start. But to know God exists is one thing, but to know He wants to have a relationship with you is quite another. God wants to communicate with you, for you to know Him, to know He loves you, that He is kind and gentle, patient and merciful, and full of loving kindness. That is exactly why God sent His Son Jesus, to dwell among us, to make God known to us. He came to show us what it means to be truly human, as God intended man to function, when He breathed into Adam the breath of life, the very Spirit of God living inside him.

So Jesus as God chose not to use His rights as God but became totally dependent on His Father, so we who are not God, would know how to truly live. Growing in grace is growing to understand all that God has freely given you, to know the inheritance you have in Christ Jesus, and to learn to rest in Him. It is maturing in your knowledge of the grace of God that has been extended to you in Christ Jesus. It is maturing as you hit life’s problems, trials and tribulations. We have an option to either walk by faith in Jesus who said “I am the way, the truth and the life”, or to go out and try to solve them on our own.

As we learned yesterday, God is the great I Am. But knowing that God is our creator God, what does that practically mean to you and me today? Jesus explained what that meant when He identified Himself as the I Am and illustrated with additional I Am statements, amplifying in physical terms that you and I can relate to. We know what bread and water means to our physical existence. So the question that needs to be answered is this. Who do you say that I am, the Jesus we have been studying about this past week? We have been reading from the scriptures the claims Jesus Christ has said concerning Himself. These things were written down so that you might believe Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. This statement is a record of what Jesus said, and is His bold explanation of the gospel, a message of good news of new life, that He came in order to offer us. The gospel, the message of salvation, is about life, new spiritual life, eternal life, God’s life, to be made available to all mankind.

Let us not stop at the cross, where he shed his blood and died, but let us move on to the resurrection. He came not only to take away our sins, when he shed his blood on a cross, without which there is no forgiveness of sins.
