Jesus is The Life

Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P48 (02-26-20)

Paul addresses the attitudes of the heart in a believer, resulting in actions of love toward one another, the body of Christ. Christ Jesus is the head of the church and we are the body. As the body of Christ, we belong to one another, and should be acting in love for one another. When one part of the body hurts, we hurt with him. When one part of the body rejoices, we rejoice with him. We each are given spiritual gifts for building each other up; prophesying, serving, teaching, encouraging, giving, leading, and showing mercy. Even if one aspect is not our spiritual gift, we learn from one another, and become just as effective, as we observe how one another operates in their gift. In this way the body builds itself up in love as each part does its work. So let us look at these attitudes and actions of love; sincere in love, hating what is evil, clinging to what is good, being devoted to one another in love, honoring one another above ourselves, with spiritual fervor, serving the Lord, joyful always, praying continuously, giving thanks in all circumstances, helping those in need, and practicing hospitality.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus is Love

Synopsis

As children of God, we have the privilege to participate in the divine nature. Before, we did not have such a privilege, because you cannot participate in what you do not yet have, the Spirit of God living in you. But, everyone is born with free will. Adam and Eve were born with the choice to love God or to choose for themselves what is right and wrong, and good and evil. When they chose wrong, sin and death entered this world, the Spirit of God left mankind, for all have sinned, and all have died.

So since the fall of Adam, we were all born spiritually dead, without the Spirit of God living in us. Then Jesus took away the cause of death, which is sin, by becoming sin for us, when he shed his blood on a cross. Now, man has a choice to accept the life of Christ. For when Jesus rose from the dead, he now offers eternal life, the same life that raised him from the dead, to all who will come to him to receive that life. Classic Christianity – Book of Romans P38 (02-04-20)

Synopsis

We are now in the 9th chapter of Romans. Recall the reason Paul is addressing the Romans is for the sake of the gospel. He longs for his own people the Jews to be saved. He explains the gospel is for Jew and Gentile alike, and it has always been by faith from first to last. In Romans 9, you read about the heart of love Paul, a Jew himself, has for his own people. As we addressed in Romans 8, God wants us to be convinced of God’s amazing love for us.

Why is it that the religious, particularly the leadership, do not come to Christ. Here are the Jews today, with over 2000 years of history, of Moses, the covenants, the prophets, and yet are stubborn and obstinate, and fail to believe. It was not God’s word that failed. The fault is with the people.

Just as it was then, so too people today will say they have over 2000 years of church history. They will consider you proud for going against church history, as if truth has been handed down from Peter, whom they say is the first pope, in some oral tradition, in all kinds of practices that are supposed to impart grace to you.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Christ is the head of the church. But as people come to know Christ, they need to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. So a local body of believers is formed. It takes time to grow, and to protect the body of Christ, more mature believers, who have demonstrated by their life and conduct and their teaching that they correctly handle the word of truth, and are able to explain the meaning of God’s word, such men are appointed. Now, the role of each member of the body is to let the Lord teach them the meaning of the word of God, for it is really only the Holy Spirit who can reveal truth to men. And also because all men live in the flesh of ours, where sin dwells, often churches have a multiplicity of leadership, so as to guard and pray for one another. Recall the shortcomings and struggles of the early church, so we can learn from that. The apostle Paul often asked for the prayers of the believers, that he would explain the gospel clearly as he ought. Salvation is Life to the Dead

Synopsis

So many people have been raised in some religion denomination, whether Judaism, Catholic or Baptist, and think they are saved by believing what they have been taught. The problem is that what they have been taught is words of men based on tradition. They do not understand what salvation is. They think salvation is getting sins forgiven. That is only a half gospel, and that is not even fully understood. A Jew goes back to the day of atonement, the shedding of the blood of a bull or goat, to get their sins forgiven. The Catholic goes to the confessional booth to confess his sins before a priest to get his sins forgiven. The Baptist or Protestant goes direct to God, quoting 1 John 1:9, keeping short accounts with God, to get his sins forgiven. But none of those things takes away sin. Indeed only the atonement was even recognized, under a temporary Old Covenant system, to cover sin. But even that was set aside by a New Covenant system when Jesus shed his blood on a cross. Synopsis

Have you come to grasp the love of God that is in Christ Jesus? If you are in Christ Jesus, allowing Him to renew your mind with truth, the truth shall set you free. Sadly, so many believers have not studied the word of God for themselves, and have kept listening to error from the pulpit. If someone tells you that God will get you if you sin, is that true? No. God has taken away your sins, never to be seen again from the eyes of God. And that was done at the cross. There is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. But do you see how a little error here and there, keeps you from walking in freedom. Who will boldly go to the throne of grace in your time of need, thinking God is mad at you or is punishing you?

Another serious error is thinking salvation is getting your sins forgiven. I do not think anybody wants to go to hell. So, sure, I will say thank you Jesus for dying on the cross for my sins.
