Jesus is Our Hope of Glory

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P26 (06-16-20)

Synopsis

So we, who are in Christ, have this blessed hope, that one day, in a flash, in a twinkling of an eye, we will be changed. The moment we die, or the moment we are raptured, either way, we will be changed because we will see Him as He really is. We will be given a new spiritual body, like His. This earthly body will remain in the grave. For we read that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God. The perishable will be swallowed up with the imperishable. Now, what we will be, what this new body will be like, that has not been made known. But we do know what Jesus said, that our body will be like His glorious body. And we know one thing about His body, that after He walked on the earth after rising from the dead, he appeared to his disciples behind locked doors. He walked through a wall. So, I would assume that we will have a body that can walk through walls. But beyond that, what the body will be like has not been made known.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Faith Responds to Jesus

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P25 (06-15-20)

Synopsis

Now let us look at this wonderful hope we have. If you ever had to sell your car or house, you want to do so to get a good deal, to exchange something of value, such as a car, that someone else deems valuable. You want the money you receive in exchange for selling your car as more valuable to you than the car. That is a good deal. Now, in Christ, we have an incredibly good deal! We exchanged a few brief years on this earth, allowing Christ to live his life in and through us, and in exchange we will one day be present with the Lord with a new glorious body that never gets old and never dies, and is no longer in the presence of sin, nor will ever experience sorrow, sickness or pain again, and we will forever be with the Lord for eternity. That is a great deal! That is the marvelous hope we have in Christ Jesus. We know this hope is going to happen because the Lord told us in His word that it will happen. That is our blessed hope.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus Loves You and Forgave You

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P24 (06-10-20)

Synopsis

We have a lot of disturbing news recently, of riots and murder in our streets. We wonder if there will ever be peace on earth. But by faith, we know what God has said, That in this world you will have trials and tribulations while this earth remains as it is with sinful man. But we also know in the end there will be a new heaven and a new earth and God will make all things new. But we know what God has said so we do not have unrealistic expectations at this current state. It is unrealistic to expect that we can do something to reclaim America for God, to make God do what we want Him to do, or to think we can do something that will bring about peace. The peace that God gives is something the world knows nothing about. God’s peace does not depend on circumstances. Peace is what God gives when we place our trust in Him, when we act in faith in what God has promised. Why then did Jesus say, “Be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world.”.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Believe Jesus Took Away All Your Sins

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P23 (06-09-20)

Synopsis

In this world today, of riots and pillaging and murder in the streets, is that something that should shock us, as if that would never happen, in a world of sin and death? God said that in this world you will have trials and tribulations. So what happens when we do not hold onto the truth of what God has said? Do we even realize that there is an enemy called Satan, or have we been deceived into thinking he does not exist? If we think he does not exist, then who do people tend to blame? Do they not tend to blame God for causing or allowing these things to happen? Do we have unrealistic expectations, expectations different than what God told us to expect to happen? So why is this faith in Christ so vital for us to walk in, to believe what God has said and to act upon that belief?

But what else has God promised us. He said that He has overcome the world. And in Him there is peace that surpasses understanding. And, he said that He will cause all things to happen for the good for those who love Him and are called according to His good purpose.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Jesus is the Faithful One

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P20 (06-02-20)

Synopsis

When you think of all those saints, those heroes of the faith that have gone on before us, we are to imitate their faith. What attitude of heart did they have? We read about many of them in the scriptures, and a sampling of them in Hebrews 11. Consider the faith of Abraham. The apostle Paul mentions the faith of Abraham when writing a letter to the Romans. God credited His faith as righteousness. Now, also consider Paul’s former way of life, when he was referred to as Saul of Tarsus. Paul described himself as the worst of all sinners. He had given approval to the death of Stephen. He went about trying to destroy the faith that he now proclaims. Did God ever give up on him? No. Has God ever given up on the Jews, these thousands of years? No. He has promised that all Israel will be saved. He will get their attention in the last days, and there will be a remnant who will accept Christ by faith. Even now there are Jews, and people all over the world, coming to Christ by faith.… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message

Faith is Confidence in What we Hope For

Classic Christianity – A Closer Look at Faith, Hope & Love P19 (06-01-20)

Synopsis

Listen as Bob George summarizes some key foundational concepts on faith, hope and love. Listen as he retells what he has shared the past several weeks, what true faith is, what faith is not, the examples of faith we read about in Hebrews 11, of Abraham and others, of their faith, where some escaped the sword while others were sawed in two, those who conquered kingdoms and others who were poor and destitute, but to all of them, God commended them for their faith. What can we learn from this? As you listen, follow along with the transcript, where additional scriptures are posted, so you can test and see for yourself if what he says is so.

Is faith something we have enough of to get God’s hands moved? Is faith what you call manipulating God, that I have enough faith to tell God what to do and then He has to do it because of the size of my faith? Or, is faith believing what God has said, believing what He has promised in Christ Jesus, in what He has already provided and done for you?… Click to Read More And Follow Along With The Message
