Jesus is Our Righteousness From God

Synopsis

This faith is in what God has promised, and that is that life is in His Son. Will you believe that? Will you place your trust in what God has said? Now, when you are in Christ, what do you have? Eternal life. What else do you have? Redemption and forgiveness of sins. What else do you have? The very righteousness of God credited to you. Forgiveness of sins does not give you righteousness. That clears the deck of the sins of the entire world so life can be given, and it came at a great price, the shedding of the blood of the eternal Son of God. But death does not give you life. Life gives you life. Righteousness is who God is, perfect without sin, holy and pure and blameless. So when you are in Him, you have every spiritual blessing in Christ, which includes His righteousness imputed to you, and eternal life, for He is God eternal. It is an exchanged life. He took away your sin, and then offered you eternal life. Faith in Jesus Must be the Object of Faith

In this study on Faith, Hope and Love, we have looked into what faith is, what faith is not, and that there is misplaced faith, and then there is faith placed properly on what is true, and on the one who is the way, the truth and the life. This faith in Christ Jesus, who is God in the flesh, is the faith we are talking about. Now this truth is what men cannot grasp on their own. This truth must be revealed by the Spirit of God to the hearts of men.

Now, many times, people relegate faith to just this aspect of getting saved, but then so many people do not really understand what saved means. If you grew up never hearing the word “saved” then you might respond by saying, “What are you talking about? Saved from what?” Other people might have grown up in a denomination where the word “saved” was often heard. This faith we profess, what is it? That Christ is our hope and our love. It is because of His love that I know what love is. This love was given to me as a gift. He came and did something for me I could never do for myself. There is power in God’s love. The same power that created all that we see and even what we do not see is the power of God. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. Faith calls out to know this God who has provided everything for our good, even for such basic things as the food we eat and the clothes we wear. By faith, we believe the testimony God has said about His Son, that He is the one who is the creator of the world. We come to understand that He came to make God known to us so that we might believe and be saved. Synopsis

Bob George shares foundational truth from God’s word concerning who Jesus Christ is and what he has said he has done for you and me. Jesus Christ is the object of our faith. He is the way, the truth and the life. He is God in the flesh, whom God sent to this earth to show us how man was designed to live. Even though he is God, he chose to live as man, living in total dependency upon His Father. Here was Jesus who was never anything less than God, finding Himself in appearance as a man, humbling Himself and walking in dependency or in obedience to His Father. Should we confess our sins to God? Yes, to agree with God as to it being wrong, and as a child of God so you may learn truth that will set you free, and so you can walk in faith. But to ask God to forgive you of your sins is not walking in faith. That is asking God to do something He has already done. He will not go back to a cross to shed his blood all over again. To ask God for forgiveness when in Him you already have it is insulting Him and is like exposing him to public disgrace all over again. Respond in Faith to Jesus Christ

Synopsis

So this faith is our communication with the living God who lives in us. You can trust someone you have come to know and who loves you perfectly. This is how we are designed to live, in dependence upon God. Jesus modeled that dependent attitude, when He being God came to this earth in the appearance as a man, and chose to live as a man so that we, who are not God, may know how to live. So He tells us, “as the Father sent me, so I send you. ” So is He telling us to do what Jesus did, to raise the dead? No, that is something only God does and can do. But He is saying to us to have that same attitude that is in Christ Jesus, the attitude that says “I live in total dependency on the Father. I do nothing on My own initiative, but I do what the Father has told me to do and I say what He has told me to say.”
